Simche Kinder Driver Jan 08, 2020
I am an employee

On Thursday, 12/26/2019, at around 4:PM, I Joe Cordero, age 55, was assaulted—while I sat inside my school bus—by a Hasidic man that I never met or seen before. That man turned out to be, Max Lieberman. He’s the owner of Simche Kinder Day Care. It’s located at: 808 Myrtle Avenue Brooklyn N.Y. 11206. The assault took place right outside the Day Care.

In the 3 months that I worked for, Simche Kinder Daycare, as a school bus driver, I took orders from my boss, 20-year-old Hasidic man name, Joseph Lieberman. Joseph Lieberman hired me in early October of 2019. During my time at Simche Kinder—I never met or seen his father Max Lieberman until he assaulted me.

On Thursday, 12/26/2019, at around 4:PM, Max Lieberman, a man who stands anywhere from 5’ 11” to 6’ 2”, and who appears to be in his mid 40’s, rushed out of the daycare—mad as hell—and entered my bus. I was sitting on the drivers seat when he began screaming: “GET OFF MY BUS! GET OFF MY BUS! He then hit me on my right arm and shoulder, and then he grabbed me, lifted me up from my seat and shoved me out the school bus. At the time of the assault there were children on the bus. I was in complete shock—confused by it all. The Hasidic and the Hispanic female daycare workers and the other drivers witnessed the assault.

Why did Max Lieberman attack me? Keep in mind I didn’t know that he was inside the daycare—and I had never met or seen him before. Payday was on Thursday, 12/26/2019. But Joseph Lieberman—my boss, told me that checks were going to be handed out—late again, on the 1st of January 2020. I had waited the required two weeks to get paid, and he now wanted me to wait another week. Joseph Lieberman also said that if I did get paid, that I was only getting a 1-week paycheck instead of two. Hearing this after getting—3 past checks that bounced, at check cashing places, got me understandably upset.

I told Joseph Lieberman—my boss—that I wasn’t moving the bus until I got my 2-week check. This forced him to change his narrative. He then said that my check would be ready by the time I finished my 3:PM trip. I believed him again. After finishing my 3:PM trip, I arrived back at the daycare to hear that my check would be ready when I finished my 4:PM trip. That’s when I said—again that I wasn’t moving the bus. He left.

Minutes later, I see a man, who I never met, rush out of the daycare and climb in my school bus. He proceeded to attack me physically as I sat in my seat. He attacked me because I wouldn’t do the 4:PM trip. Max Lieberman, my attacker, resides and operates daycares in Montreal Canada and possibly in Florida. After he attacked me and shoved me off the bus, I ran across the street because I feared for my life. “NO CHECK! NO CHECK! YOU NOT GETTING PAID! NO CHECK! CALL THE POLICE! I DON’T CARE!” He yelled.

At this point I was livid not so much about not getting paid, but because I was assaulted inside of my school bus in the presence of children and co-workers. When Max Lieberman briefly disappeared, I removed my items from the bus and called the police. While I was making the call, I flagged down a police car that happened to be driving by. I told the officers that, I’m a school bus driver and that a man that I never saw before assaulted me inside my bus. The officers questioned Max Lieberman about the assault and my pay but he wasn’t cooperating. At this point, I told the officers that my boss was, Joseph Lieberman, who was present during my assault. The officers question both men about my check. Max and Joseph Lieberman said that if I did the 4:PM trip that my check would be ready by then. I was confused. I forgot to press charges on Max Lieberman for assault. I had been living from one bad check to another for the past 3 months. I also revealed to the officers that the Lieberman’s are running a scam—by handing out bad checks.

When I finished the 4:PM trip, my boss Joseph Lieberman, and I agreed to meet at a different location where he would hand me my check. I called the police because I feared being attacked again. I asked for police presence. I didn’t know if Joseph Lieberman was going to show up with his father Max and others—to remove me from the bus. I revealed to the dispatcher everything that had occurred about me being assaulted in my bus.

Joseph Lieberman was at the agreed meet up location at Flushing and Marcy Avenue when I arrived. There were no police officers waiting after I was told that police officers would be dispatched to this location. Joseph Lieberman handed me my check and I drove away. My right arm was hurting from the assault. I was able to cash the check at the check-cashing place on Broadway and Penn Street. Time will tell if that check bounced.

Simche Kinder employees who have worked there longer than I did revealed that Max Lieberman has changed banks 4-times in the last 3-years—the last time being in December of 2019. The workers who cash checks at check cashing places fear running out of check cashing places to cash their checks because no check cashing place in the neighborhood will touch Simche Kinder checks.

When I started driving my assigned bus, the driver’s side mirror was shattered. I repaired it for $80. I saved them $170 dollars. Their go to repair shop was charging them $250. I had the bus with me 24/7 for 3-months. When I was hired, there were many things wrong with it—besides being incredibly filthy. The teachers who work in the bus revealed that the past driver never swept. I used my own money to power-wash the bus inside and out 2-times in the 3-months that I worked there. I also bought a broom, a bucket, bleach and other disinfectants—with my own money. A month before I quit, I stopped cleaning and sweeping the bus when I found out that their checks were bouncing. The smell of urine and children defecating on themselves would force me to wear masks.

Max and Joseph Lieberman’s check bouncing scam goes like this: They get work done for free. They then give out bad checks. When the check cashing places find out that the checks bounce, they start the process to recover their loss. Max and Joseph Lieberman put off reimbursement until they can’t no longer and then they switches banks. The check cashing places are basically paying the workers and Max Lieberman pockets the workers salary.

Disappointed worker Sep 01, 2019
I am an employee

The owner lives in Montreal while the place is in Brooklyn. He originally has employees sign contract, which contain all information for both to agree on but has the worker sign first and then never returns a copy with his signature on it. He then violates the contract in every way for his benefit. One example is pay. He says he doesn’t pay the first 2weeks because of trial period. Then in any given year checks bounced at least 4 times. He promised to pay the bank charge for the bounced check but never does. After a worker leaves, he doesn’t pay the last few weeks of work. He ends up owing each worker hundreds or thousands of dollars , which he never pays. People’s calls for the residual payments are dealt with ignoring them.
The fact that he’s not on site causes workers to deal with problems like plumbing or meals, which is not their job. Even if and when they do, he refuses to pay. Meals for students sometimes don’t arrive because of his negligence to pay food providers. I do not suggest this place.
