Description: In 1902, a child welfare study revealed that Schenectady children were found locked in their homes or running the streets while their mothers worked. A small group of innovative women mobilized. Together, they founded the Schenectady Day Nursery, SDN, where even the youngest child could feel safe, grow and learn in a caring environment.
