We love the staff and the care provided at Savannah Smiles. Our daughter is very loved and well taken care of. They have great communication with parents, so you also know updates during the day. Fantastic Center!
So to begin with the review from 1/9/20 is very unfair. I do believe that your child was given several chances to change their behavior, you had several meetings with the director, but there was excuse after excuse when they acted out with so much aggression. Your child was very aggressive, very disrespectful to all teachers, other parents ( kicking parents when they came in) and other kids. I have been at this center for over 4 years and I have never had a hard time getting into contact with the director, she even gives her personal cell number to most of the parents. The center follows the state food program so they have strict guidelines. They can’t make your child eat what is served. I do know they have access to their water bottles all day. Children will get bumps and bruises no doubt there. I know if something serious happens the director does make a phone call home. Communication is great at the center. Everyone is extremely friendly. It’s always easier to blame other people rather then fix the problem.
We recieved services from this child care facility for less than six months. I gave this facility 2 stars based on the sole facts that it is a clean facility with a structured daily routine. Within the short amount of time at this facility there was always an issue. The classroom sizes are huge, many times they operate over the staff:child ratio. My child continually came home with huge bruises and scratches and staff nor the director/owner could explain what happened to cause such injuries nor did they seem concerned about the injuries. I understand children will fall and play but a new bruise weekly is a little much with no explanation. My child sustained a major injury that required medical attention and i was never provided with an incident report. There is a high turnover in staff. The inconsistancy in staff, as well as picking up habits from other children (which is to be expected) caused my child to start acting out. As a result the staff grossly overused timeout, which wasnt a consistent practice from child to child, and many times my child wasnt allowed to participate in school activities due to being in timeout. Director/owner has very limited hours, she arrives late morning and is often gone by early afternoon. This makes it very difficult to address concerns with her. My child came home everyday hungry and thirsty. I was informed by the director that with a breakfast, lunch, and small snack offered they were not able to offer anything additional nor was i able to bring in additional snacks. Staff communication is extermly poor. I would receive one report from a staff member and a different report from the director. I was very hopeful for this facility but sadly I wouldnt feel comfortable recommending this facility to anyone given our experience. Maybe some training for all staff, including the director, would benefit this facility.
Savannah Smiles Learning Center is by far the best daycare! They are always loving and very welcoming! My children have learned so much being enrolled at this center! I have a infant and a toddler/preschool child and they helped me potty train my 18 month old! They do a great job with daily reports so I know everyday what fun activities and what they ate for the day! My oldest comes home singing new songs constantly! They are very much organized and always welling to discuss any questions or concerns! Great place!
My daughter had been at Savannah Smiles for almost a year and I have to say it has been one of the worst daycare establishments I have been to. No assistance with potty training. Low staff to kid ratios, lak of interaction with children. It felt like they put the kids into a small room and just observe until their parents come back. My biggest concern was the lack of communication about my daughters day to day activities, countless times my daughter came home with bruises and scrapes with no idea where they had come from. When asked the staff on pick up how her day was, we get short answers like "OK" or "It was fine." I would come in and her pull up that they insisted she wear while we were attempting to potty train would be completely full/ overflowing. At one point they had put a pair of panties over her pull up for nap time as was the practice ( so they don't lose the panties} and when I came to pick her up close to 5 pm the pull up and panties were still on and pull up full. Which logically shows they were not changing her or attempting to take her to the bathroom. The final coupe de grace was when I had found another daycare facility and gave my notice to pull her out and was required to give a month notice, which would result in me loosing my other spot, but wait not a month from the day of notification but a month from the first of the month. So I told them a week after the first and then had to pay another month that I will not use even one day of. So essentially I gave a month and 3 week notice, and now had to pay for two daycares. I would not recommend this place for anyone's child. It's about the money for them not the child.
The 3 star rating is mostly due to the excellent daily report of what happened during the day for my infant. Although during her stay there they were not listening to my breast milk instructions and just throwing away left over. (I only made it 6 months, so that stuff was liquid gold! ) I was told to pay the full time rate but I could not drop her off all of the 5 days. Eventually they kicked my 5 month out due to her needing to be held too much and not sleeping on their schedule. Well the very first day at her new daycare they told me at lunch time they hadn't held her at all, and all they noticed is that she gets bored easily. So they'd move her to a new toy section and she's be happy! I thought someone would have figured that out sooner at Savannahs.
