Description: The preschool program at Pueblo West Elementary is a combination at-risk/special education program designed to support the developmental needs of children 3 to 5 years of age. It is a closed enrollment meaning that children must be determined to be at risk for developmental delays or have special needs. The Colorado Preschool Program is an at risk program designed to prepare 4 year olds the year before kindergarten. These children must be 4 years of age by June 1st. Children must go through our eligibility screening held each spring. For special education, children ages 3 to 5 must have gone through the initial Child Find Screening and through further assessment and staffing process to be determined eligible. Each elementary/preschool is given a certain number of slots for the next school year. Slots are given to those with the highest need. The Pueblo West Elementary preschool runs 4 days a week, Monday thru Thursday- 3 hours per session.
