Description: Rainbow Garden School in an intimate, enriching, loving, educational and childcare facility located in the beautiful wooded natural environment of South Eugene, Oregon. We are state-certified and privately owned and operated. Our mission at Rainbow Garden is to provide a safe, interesting, nurturing and developmentally appropriate environment for children from infancy to school age. We strive to educate the children as well as the parents to help guide and strengthen relationships in our world and to create independent self empowered people who may someday be the leaders of our cities, states, country, or world.
We have 2 different locations to better serve our local community. The first location 1901 Pierce Street, began in June of 1997. This location is a State Certified Child Care Group Home with a total of 16 children serving ages 2 to 6 years.
The second location is at 5310 Fox Hollow Road and is a State Certified Child Care Center serving 56 children from 8 weeks to 6 years in the lower building, and the upper building will provide before school and after school educational care for children 6 to 12 years of age.

This is one of the only childcare centers in South Eugene serving the under 2 1/2 crowd as well as the older kids. We've experienced the baby room and the toddler room. Like any centers there are good things and bad things.
The good: almost always open and has extended hours so it's the most convenient place ever. They also serve a pretty decent looking breakfast and lunch, which is a bonus. Music class is included every Wednesday. The owner is around pretty consistently and has a lot of experience in childcare. They also take credit cards, so while I wouldn't call their rates a bargain for what you get, at least it's pretty convenient to pay.
The bad: First, the center isn't cleaned fantastically and we are constantly getting ill from whatever germ is being passed around there. We've been around plenty of other childcare situations in town and of course we know the illnesses associated with daycare, but this seems especially bad. The center is a little runned-down feeling. I never see the staff actively cleaning things besides table tops, and there is a general sense of disorder sometimes. The other biggie for us is that the staff seems to be a revolving door and we haven't experienced and regularity in the head teacher situations of either class -- a definite issue if you have kids sensitive to these things. Those who are there consistently are very friendly and happy to be around the kids.
Be forewarned that your child will be in the "infant" room until they are 2 years old, yet this room has very little in the way to interest an almost 2 year old and they may not get the engaging activities, exercise or gross motor development work that you want.
Overall, RG is an acceotable option for working parents especially if you live nearby.
