About the Provider
Park Congregational Church opened its own nursery school in 1964. The idea of creating a school came about at the request of several Park Church members who wanted their children enrolled int a nursery school and found limited facilities elsewhere in Norwich. The school opened as a cooperative nursery school with parents and guardians volunteering in the classroom. The school has grown over the years but the focus of the school has remained constant. The dedicated and caring staff continues to provide children quality care and cultivate the kinds of experiences which are integral to the expected readiness and proper attitude needed to step into the world of formal schooling.
The school, licensed by the state of Connecticut, is governed by its own Board of Directors comprised of both church members and non-church members. Many board members are, and have been, teachers from various school districts which has helped the school stay current. The school is non-denominational and welcomes children from Norwich and the surrounding communities. The school's goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that enables each child to grow and flourish physically, socially, emotionally, and intelligently.
