Description: PAL Head Start program serves 463 children, ages 3-5 and provides educational, social services, health, mental health, nutrition and parent involvement opportunities for the families of the children served. PAL Daycare programs serve an additional 390 children of working families annually. The day care programs serve children from 2 years old to 5 year old. Integrated with these services are Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) programs which serve four year olds. Head Start and Day Care programs are funded by the Agency for Child Development of the city of New York.
After offering Early Childcare Education opportunities to families for more than forty years PAL continues to be one of the major providers in the City of New York. We operate four full time Head Start programs, three Day Care/Collaboration programs and two pure Day Care programs. Within these programs PAL enhances learning opportunities by providing inclusion/disabilities opportunities in three of the four Head Start programs. These programs also benefit from the consultancy of a Nutritionist, Mental Health sponsors and a Health practitioner. Each center is staffed with Early Education Professionals, who ensure that children are given the best early learning experiences coupled with appropriate developmental opportunities through dance and music programs. The children attending the programs are served nutritious meals daily through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This program provides monies for all children who attend the program to receive meals that are child friendly and nutritious. The head start and daycare programs operate all year round, with hours varying from 8am to 6 pm. (Head Start 8:30 to 4:30 Day Care 8 to 6). Ms. Asneth Council is the Director of the Child
