Description: North Buncombe Elementary is a public school accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction. The school is located in Weaverville, a rural town approximately ten miles north of Asheville. The student population consists of approximately 730 students(kindergarten through fourth grade students). A Headstart/Preschool class is also located on the site.
NBES utilizes volunteers from the community to tutor students, assist with fund raising, provide additional support to classroom teachers, serve on the School Improvement Team and to serve on the School Advisory Committee. Community members are encouraged to participate in Career Day and other events. Our P.T.O. meets throughout the year and helps coordinate parent volunteer efforts.
We provide an economical early morning care program from 6:45 a.m. until 7:35 a.m. The YMCA operates an after school program at NBES, which provides reasonably priced care until 6:00 p.m.
NBES sponsors a variety of after school clubs. Teachers, administrators and parents supervise student participation in various clubs. Buncombe County Youth League offers football, basketball, soccer, and baseball programs at NBES.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.
