Plan: Notice to Comply was received on 1/15/2020 and is the following: Staff member involved in this specific incident was terminated immediately upon our knowledge of the incident. In order to help prevent this moving forward, we have added 2 members to our leadership team who are scheduled outside of a classroom to be able to assist teachers when needed. All current staff will attend a staff meeting this evening where we will discuss the proper way to pick up a child. Members of the leadership team will continue to provide support and training to all staff during the first week of orientation as well as throughout their employment. All staff are trained according to Licensing requirements. All staff are also trained according to My Small Wonders policies, procedures and best practices. |

I would not recommend this daycare for any child, ever. We had a few instances that I felt were handled very poorly by management. The first major incident was in the 2 year old classroom, I saw a teacher slam a toddler (not even mine) down on a cot because she was frustrated this particular child was difficult getting to sleep. Management kept the teacher in that classroom, despite my vocal concerns. Eventually the teacher was moved out of the classroom (actual reason unknown) and they couldn’t find a good teacher to fill the class, which ended with another child punching my child in the face, giving her a black eye due to lack of supervision from the teacher. We tried to keep in mind things happen, but in the pit of my stomach, I felt the daycare wasn’t addressing safety concerns that seemed to continue to occur. We asked to be moved to a new classroom, which went well for about 6 months until she was moved to the next age group (3’s). Within 3 weeks my child had her tooth ripped out by a different daycare worker than the previous 2 incidences. My child had her blanket in her mouth during nap time and for whatever reason the daycare worker decided to, in full force, rip the blanket out of her mouth, ripping out her bottom front tooth. My daughter was seen by a dentist to confirm this had to have been done with extreme strength since this was a baby tooth, with a full root, that shouldn’t have come out for at least another 3 years at minimum. NO ONE should be handling children in this way. My daughter was then seen by a doctor to have a chest X-ray because the daycare couldn’t find the tooth and we were unsure if she aspirated it. Management handled this particular incident so poorly we had no other choice but to leave the facility. My child’s safety was put at risk on more than one occasion at this daycare and I would never trust them again. They might have a nice facility with live feed cameras, but those cameras present nothing more than a false sense of security. Had I not been watching on the first 2 incidences, I would never have known what happened. It terrifies me to think what all I didn’t see and I allowed my child to continue going there every single day.
LOVE the new director!!! This facility was great but is now AMAZING!! They offer live web cams and the director, Ms. Misty, has implemented lots of great things, such as a strict illness policy. LOVE My Small Wonders.
My Small Wonders is one of the FEW centers in Edmond that is locally owned AND operated which makes a huge difference. The staff is incredible. They know the names of the children and parents and truly seem to care. The center offers a live webcam to parents in their room--which is the only center who offers this in the metro area. They have a security system that allows only registered users to even enter the building. The director is great. Check out their website at www.mysmallwonders.com. They are expensive but offer care and things that no one else can offer. A great center.
