Findings: The director has ceased using the room referred to as the "back room" on the license, this room is no longer being used for child care. This room has been made off limits with a barrier. The back room is being used for storage for the director and her spouse's side business. This change wasn't reported, but was observed and discussed today. Removing this room from the approved child care space doesn't affect the capacity of the center. The living room and play room still measure for up to 15 children. The license does need to be revised to remove the use of the back room. The OCC is now aware of the room change and the non-compliance is corrected. Please in the future notify the OCC of changes that may affect the child care.

Findings: There is an above ground swimming pool in the back yard of the home. The back yard and the swimming pool are not approved for use by child care children. There is a fenced in play area in the front of the house which is used for child care. The fenced in area doesn't include the doors from the day care. The sides of the above ground swimming pool measure over 4' high. The decking around the pool touches part of the pool sides. There is also a stairway to the pool from the back door of the day care. There is no alarm on this door. Strongly recommended an alarm be added to this door. There are 2 gates leading to the pool. The gates were no longer self closing or self latching. There was water in the pool. There were pad locks locked on the latch but the gates were not closed. Discussed that the gates must always be closed and the gates must be self closing and self latching. A wooden platform was on the ground against the side of the pool. The pool pump on the ground nearly touches the side of the pool. The pump was no longer enclosed. The wooden platform was immediately removed, on site. The pad locks were replaced and gates locked immediately on site. See Remarks for further info.

All of my children have attended this school and I have found it to be a first-rate facility. I challenge anyone to find a better trained or experienced staff anywhere in Calvert county. Most of the teachers have either extensive training (even overseas education and experience) or a BA. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and very welcoming to parents. I sincerely cannot more highly recommend this school.
