We let Paulo and Maria know we’d be leaving their daycare last month. We provided them with over 2x the notice the contract required to be nice and to try to make the transition easy on them. A few days later they informed us they would be closed for two weeks due to “covid”. The night before we were set to return they asked us to forgo using the initial deposit we put down that, per the contract, would cover our last 3 weeks of care and just pay them the full amount. When we told them we were not in the financial position to do that given we have a new baby on the way, they told us they would no longer watch our son. This left us without childcare for an entire month prior to my maternity leave starting. It was a disappointing and very stressful end to our relationship with Paulo and Maria. One that left us really questioning their character.
