Description: We are in an era where accountability for student achievement is paramount. Some of the most respected educational researchers have concluded that principals need to distinguish between what is essential and what is important. (McRel 2004)
There is no doubt there is a multitude of responsibilities that are important in running a school, however many of these responsibilities are not essential to improving student achievement. For example, issues such as maintenance, finance, law, human resources and public relations are extremely important, but not necessarily essential in improving student achievement.
Four essential elements in student achievement are:
1) A staff that uses highly engaging activities that are directly connected with the curriculum.
2) Ability of staff to use data in their lesson design.
3) A principal who ensures the curriculum is being delivered, data is being used, and is an
instructional leader.
4) Parent cooperation (This is more complex than just parent involvement).
Please accept this as my personal invite to interact with your child's education. The staff at Churchill Elementary welcomes and desires your educational partnership. Churchill Elementary has a rich history of academic excellence that transcends many generations. In order to sustain this kind of success it is paramount that our staff, myself included, examine what we do and create ways to do it better. It is also critical for us to continue to provide ways for us to serve our community in ways that parallel the needs of today's fast-based, highly technology driven-world. This is why we put our newsletters online, have a parent notification system, computerized web-based grade book with parent viewing access, and are now implementing ways for parents to access and update their own contact information online.
Where possible, ChildcareCenter provides inspection reports as a service to families. This information is deemed reliable, but is not guaranteed. We encourage families to contact the daycare provider directly with any questions or concerns, as the provider may have already addressed some or all issues. Reports can also be verified with your local daycare licensing office.
