About the Provider

Head Start gives children ages 3 and 4 the opportunity to grow and learn in a high quality early childhood setting. The program is specifically tailored to meet the educational and social needs of preschool-aged children.

MICA has Head Start locations in Grinnell, Iowa Falls, Marshalltown, Nevada, and Tama. Head Start offers half-day and full-day classes with availability depending on the community.

In Head Start, children don’t just learn how to count or identify letters (though that’s certainly an important part of the curriculum). Many people don’t know that our preschool experience also includes health services and screenings, teaches good nutrition and social skills, supports parents and promotes physical activity so children improve their motor skills. It is a safe learning environment where children are encouraged to explore their world and learn the essential skills they will need to succeed later in life.
