Georgian Forest Elementary School was originally opened in the Fall of 1961. In 1961 Georgian Forest opened beyond its projected enrollment. Classes were held at Glenmont Methodist Church, in the main office, and occasionally, even in closets! In 1981 Georgian Forest was targeted for closure but strong community opposition prevented its doors from being closed permanently. During the 1980's, there was discussion about renovations but several delays occured. In 1990, school renovation was once again delayed. However, in 1992, Georgian Forest was finally approved for renovation. In the summer of 1994, school doors were temporarily closed as we were relocated to Northwood Center during our one year renovation.
