Description: The Early Childhood Education Center is a preschool learning laboratory for three and four year old children and is an integral component of instructional programming in the School of Human Ecology. In addition to being accredited by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the center has achieved a 5-star rating from the Louisiana Quality Star Rating system.
Family and Child Studies faculty recognize the interdependence of physical, intellectual, and personality development of children, and the center’s approach reflects an emphasis on developing intelligence in the context of social interaction and physical activity.
Children spend the majority of the day in self-selected activities. The physical environment, daily schedule, and implementation of activities are planned to promote maximum independence in the children.
