Hi! My name is Melissa Foster and I have been working with children my entire life. I started out working in childcare centers as an aide/assistant teacher, then later as a head teacher. I also have taught Community Ed gymnastics, Sunday School, and was a nanny as well while I got my Early Childhood degree. I began my own home childcare in March 2004 in Scott County, then moved to Delano in August 2012. Working with children is my passion, and I love being able to take care of kids as babies and watch them grow into independent children. I feel that taking care of mixed ages in a small group is a great way to teach children--the older ones become the "teachers" and role models for the younger ones, and the younger ones benefit from interacting and learning from the older ones.
I offer a preschool curriculum, which is flexible to include the particular interests of the children I care for, and includes many aspects such as music, reading, cooperative activities, games, art, sensory play, science, etc. I follow a daily routine as well which gives the kids opportunities for both free play and structured activities as well as active play that gets their bodies moving.
