On July 31, 2022, I contacted the owner of Little Temples daycare at 3525 New Berlin Rd. about concerns about my son's care. I was repeatedly finding his underwear with entire fecal matter in it. I had brought this to his morning teacher's attention and asked for the protocol for when there is fecal matter in underwear. I was informed that "the fecal matter is dumped into the toilet, the underwear is wiped, and then placed in a plastic bag." The morning teacher then explained that she would re-educate the afternoon teachers about this protocol. However, I was still experiencing the same issue for a month after the initial discussion. I even informed the teachers to, if needed, throw the underwear away. However, with the lack of protocol compliance, I would constantly receive underwear with total amounts of fecal matter, if not that day, some days after. Or I would receive my son with changed underwear, but he would have large amounts of fecal matter in his shorts/pants that he was forced to sit in for the remainder of the day even while 3 full sets of clean clothes were provided at all times. Bringing this to the owner's awareness and voicing my frustrations and concerns, she stated the protocol for the situation (same as listed above) and terminated my care for my children. She stated that I had called her teachers lazy, to which I apologized and restructured what I had said for her better understanding (the act which continually occurred was lazy.) She replied, "from my past unhappy experiences, it's best just to terminate." So, let's talk about my past unhappy experiences.
1. On September 15, 2021, I picked up my son from the Little Temples daycare at 3525 New Berlin Rd around 3-5 pm. His teacher informed me that he had made a mess and had to change his clothes. The female owner stated that the teacher called her into the classroom during naptime, around 12:00 - 12:30, to observe my son's breathing while he was asleep. The owner then continued the conversation saying, "his breathing looks weird so just watch out for him." When checking his belly at home, it was undeniable that he was in respiratory distress, or what some call "retraction breathing." His SpO2 was instantly checked with a stat of 90. The normal range for SpO2 is between 95-100. My son was only two. He had to be rushed to Wolfson's and stayed the night for non-stop breathing treatments. I never received a call about my son's significant concern is extremely concerning the owner's lack of knowledge on safety, and the severity of what occurred could have been lesser.
2. I informed the female owner of what occurred the next day when dropping my daughter off at daycare. I educated her that she had witnessed respiratory distress and that if the teacher or owner noticed that he was doing this again, call me immediately. Then on October 2, 2021, I reived my son from Little Temples, located at 3525 New Berlin Rd., excessively lethargic. When placed in his car seat, I instantly checked his belly, to which he was in significant respiratory distress. His SpO2 was taken, and he fluctuated between 85-87; again as a two-year-old. He was instantly rushed to Wolfson's, where they rushed him back for non-stop breathing treatments, and he had to stay two nights.
3. Lastly, on October 15, 2021, I picked my son up from Little Temples at 3525 New Berlin Rd. I was informed that he had spilled liquid on his shirt needing to be changed into a new wardrobe. Later that night, I noticed two swollen bruises on his thoracic spine during his shower. Around the bruises were severe black/blue individual teeth marks that had broken skin, and when I checked his newly changed shirt, he had blood on the inside. I messaged the owner that night and asked why I was not informed about this situation and why there was no incident report. She told me that she did not have any knowledge of this incident. I then sent her pictures of his two severe bite marks and asked to see the video recording of the incident. I was consistently refused by the owner of Little Temples on 3525 New Berlin Rd. to see the video of what occurred to my child and how it happened. Instead, the owner only provided me pictures of another child pinning my son to the ground, bitting him. She informed me that she could not show me the video due to other children's faces. I was consistently denied video on the case for two weeks. With this incident, I talked to the owner at Little Temples in the front left room. She stated she would "write the child up because this is not his first time biting." She also informed me that "there is only one teacher in the classroom and many children; in the video, the teacher had her back turned because she was cleaning." Next, the owner began to provide me with the child's medical situation and the mother's issues with finding the proper care for her son. This information about the other child's medical condition is a HIPPA violation.
Besides all of this the only good that came from this facility was from Miss Taylor and the few corporating teachers.
