I have used this provider for less than 6 months

If you want a safe haven to protect your children against COVID, I am hard pressed to think of a better place than Ayla’s. She has a fail proof method to assure the safety of everyone involved: she is paid for childcare and then it is not provided.

Truly a revolutionary approach.

My girls have been with Ayla since the tail end of September. She requires first and last month’s payments. Among her many rules are that she is paid regardless of the child going to daycare. That seems reasonable - in fact, I'm all about signing a contract for care because I have firsthand seen someone take their children out of daycare constantly just to save money with no regard for the stability of those children.
I soon found out though that what her contract actually meant was that she would send children home for stupid petty things like blown out diapers, spit up, and a raspy voice that baby got while under this woman's care. And I'm convinced that my infant only got a raspy voice because she was left to cry all day. I have no definitive proof of that; only a mother's intuition.

It’s not just one child that goes home, either. It’s both of them. I have never observed any other children being sent home. If they were and it was outside the view of my knowledge, this woman has made a solid career for herself by getting parents to pay her to do nothing.

When I posted something entirely innocent pertaining to my cousin bailing me out again because I had no more sick time or vacation time, this daycare owner took it personally, accusing me of bad mouthing her business. If this medium allows me to post screenshots, I will. If my review isn’t deleted by Ayla, please contact me and I will gladly provide that information for you if I cannot post here.

Any questioning of her policy or reasoning for sending my children home more often than not results in a 5 page diatribe detailing out what other daycares are supposedly doing and how she is justified in her reasoning for sending my children packing. These are children that are obviously not sick and were not dropped off with a fever or any other symptoms.

What’s baffling to me is that my children are only ever ‘sick’ while in Ayla’s care. So this boils down to either an environmental or unsanitary practice on her part or she is knowingly excluding perfectly healthy children. I can’t see any other possible scenarios with the current outcome I’ve experienced.

My children have been sent home no less than 4 times now in a 3 month span, and that’s not including her 1.5 week shut down because the other family was exposed to COVID. This shut down was immediately followed by a one week closure for Thanksgiving. She also closes two weeks for Christmas and New Year’s. Additionally, she closes over spring break and all of summer. It is expected that you continue paying for the summer months in order to ‘reserve’ your spot.

While I have not found any legal issues that prevent this daycare ‘business owner’ from doing what she is doing, I think most people reading this would be hard pressed to find it anything but unethical at best. I can only hope that in the not so distant future there are laws written that will help protect parents from predatory people like this one when it comes to the care of their children.

Do beware of challenging Ayla. She will contact your family to try to justify her actions. She will contact her own family to contact your family members to justify her actions. If she had a means of involving our family dog to justify her actions I feel like that’s a solid possibility, too.

I will give her a small amount of credit for refunding a very small portion of the childcare money that was given to her far in advanced. It should have been considerably more.

Spare yourself the endless frustration and go with another daycare.

I am very sorry that you were not happy with the services that we provide here at daycare. We try to accommodate to the best of our ability, however per our contract that you signed, which clearly states our zero symptom policy, our vacation and holiday times and our payment policies, we cannot adjust our contract to accommodate just one family. We cannot risk the health and safety of ourselves and our other families especially during this pandemic. Should you like to discuss this further please feel free to contact me via email. Thank you and have a great day.
