Mistreatment of children? – I would strongly suggest not using this daycare. I brought my son there and my first impression was not a good one. To me the senter seemed disorganized and the directers rude. Upon a second visit I decided my son would go there. They had excellent hours and I liked his head teacher.
My son would never speak about his daycare experiences. I had to speak to the teachers about asking for identification (they never id'ed his pickups) also had to ask them not to spray lysol excessivly with my son in the room. They corrected these issues and I was still pleased and assumed my son was having difficulties adjusting.
I picked my son up from the center about 2 12 weeks after he started. Strapped him in his carseat and asked how his day was. He said "mommy, my teacher hit me" As a mother I can't even express my feeling then, i started shaking. I asked the teachers if anything had happened during his day that would cause this sort of statement and they said no. I asked to review the tape of that day and the director was unhelpful, would not speak to me and asked me to come back the next day. I went to the police to assist in getting the tapes reviewed/ they are currently under investigation for this by the health department and dcf.
I went to speak with the director the day after the event and they left me a voicemail stating that my son would not be allowed to return to their program (not that we were going back anyway) They said that in all their years no one had ever called the police on them before. ...perhaps they should have. I have done research on them since this and saw in the norwich times that some former teachers protested against the conditions and treatment of the children there. ...wow! I just wish someone had reviewed this place sooner, i know if I had read this first I never would have taken him there. I strongly suggest you dont.
