Duarte Family Child Care

My son, Emerson, has been attending Duarte Family Day Care since September 2017. At first glance the facility seems clean and kid-friendly. However, the Director, Lourdes is more concerned with appearances rather than the actual care of the children- spending more time on her phone, instead of supervising.  
 A few months after my son started, I began noticing occasional scratches on him but didn’t ask because Lourdes never addressed it or brought to my attention. Not wanting to come across as an over-analytical mom, I deliberately ignored it. Then it became more regular, my son’s wounds had become more protuberant.
 With fewer kids at daycare because of summer, and two adults “supervising” them; I don’t understand this was possible. I never receive calls/texts warning me of what I should expect at pick up time, so when I questioned if the kids were even supervised at the time of the incidents- she became very defensive. Lourdes’ response was always “kids are kids” and merely blamed it on two particular kids (known as the “bad kids” of her daycare).
Unsatisfied with her “kids are kids” response, I sought answers, on Sunday July 15th, I sent a private message to the "Justkidz Duarte" Group on Facebook, even included photos of my son’s wounds to the group message, hoping other parents would understand my concern and I also wanted to give Lourdes the opportunity to take accountability for what was occurring in her daycare and provide a solution. Instead, she replied with “if you don’t like our service, please find someone else”.
 I find her complete disregard of my child’s recent negative emotional experience, unprofessional and highly disappointing. Ms. Lourdes was/is fully aware and accepting of kids fighting under her supervision and is not willing to promote positive behavior or use any creative methods to divert and/or prevent future scenarios from occurring.
 

Miss Lourdes is the best! My daughter was under her care since she was 6 months old. she is now in Kidergarten and she misses Miss Lourdes. She started reading at 4 years old and that thanks to Miss Lourdes. We love the fun, loving and above all caring and clean environment Miss Lourdes and her family provide. the best decision i ever made to choose Miss. Lourdes.
