I disagree. I am an employee and my 3 children attend the center. I am pleased with the care that my children get and would not change centers. The teachers have been there for several years and I trust them. They do have some turn over , but I appreciate them getting rid of teachers that don't want to work.
Very unprofessional facility. Everyone who is in position of authority is either related to or a friend of the Owner Ms. Tanya. If you don't fall in that category be prepared to fend for yourself. They will put you in whatever classroom they need you in for the day if you arent a lead teacher. They are big on teacher to student ratio. If you are scheduled to leave at 3pm but the classroom isnt in ratio you can either: a) take the child/children to another class if they have room for them b) be forced to stay and wait for the students parents to come get them whenever that is. A lot of the teachers treat this as a babysitting job. Sitting around watching the children play and yelling at them when they're in the wrong. No lesson plan, no educational games, no creativity. The children are basically teaching themselves. However, there are some amazing teachers. If you happen to find one, hold onto them. They will help you. The director Ms. Tracey never leaves her office. I dont even really know if she loves education or children. She never goes out her way to help the teachers, children or parents. I had one parent complain to me that she had paid for a trip that never happened but never got her money back. And that she was having a hard time getting in touch with Ms.Tracey because she isnt there when she drops her child off or when she picks them up. If you are passionate about teaching please go somewhere else. Don't waste your education or time coming here because they could care less about their employees.
This center may have 4 Stars but its not because of management... Its because of underpaid hard working teachers, maintenance, and cooking staff. The management team excluding Alisha Rylander is heartless, cruel, and only care about themselves. The program they run is great but behind the scenes stuff that parents don't know about is ridiculous... Management again excluding Alisha Rylander will cover up child abuse and neglect just to keep the flow of funds coming into the building. If you not apart of the family click you can forget about getting your proper pay. The assistant director don't have no education experience whatsoever but make more than a Lead Pre-K Teacher who has certifications and a Degree. The Director is really the assistant director because she let's lower management control her. She works in fear and gets verbally abused all the time... 80% of the children that are there dont speak English and its only one Spanish teacher on payroll. I advise parents to think real hard about sending your children here... 4Star child care center means nothing if the people running it have no heart, compassion, respect, or care for the staff and the parents. There turnover rate is thru the sky... FYI: They talk to there staff just like they talk to your three or four year old child... You can do better than this place. Tonya Rose Davis who is the owner will lose her empire if she keep allowing Tracey Greene and Alyssa Maley to work for her... Those two have nothing to offer you when all your hard work comes tumbling down. You know why they have no Facebook, Instagram or Twitter account because too many parents and workers will tell the real truth about Discovery Place...
I am currently an employee who has one foot out the door by choice i am currently seeking other employment. the reason why is because i see the care they a provide to these children is terrible there are one hand full of employees who really do care about the children the director thinks she can talk to employees like there children humiliates them all the time. my concern is for the well being of the children and they do not drug test the people they hire which if you are caring for my child i would like to know that u do not use drugs and that concerns me i came to the conclusion that it is prolly because they prolly use drugs them selves please beware they are very unprofessional and mr brian davias thnks he can threaten and intimidate people because he carry's a gun if you want your child to be cared for by unprofession people then this is the place for you and any good reviews if they have any is by a current employee and they do over pack there classes all they care about is the check that the city provides for them and the grants they receive the irs needs to look at there tax evasions and and the unemployment needs to also look into there pay roll they dont pay time and a half for the employees when they do overtime
