Day Nursery Association Day Care

Noncompliance Area: While reviewing the staff files for the renewal inspection the inspector observed the files for staff #1 and #2 and found that staff #1 had a first day of working in childcare as 5/29/19 and was hired with a PA Department of Education versus a DHS FBI as is required. Staff #2 also had a first date of working in child care as 6/22/15 and was hired with a PA Department of Education versus a DHS FBI as is required.

Correction Required: The operator shall comply with the CPSL and with Chapter 3490 (relating to protective services). A facility person's record shall include a copy of requests for the criminal history record and child abuse registry clearance information, a copy of the disclosure statement and a copy of the completed clearance information required under the CPSL. Facility Person #1 and #2 may not work in a child care position at the facility.

Noncompliance Area: While at the facility on 4/30/19 the inspector observed a container of Lysol and several lemons sharing the same shelve space in the kitchen area of the facility.

Correction Required: Cleaning materials and other toxic materials shall be stored in an original labeled container or in a container that specifies the content. Toxics shall be stored away from food, food preparation areas and child care spaces.

Noncompliance Area: While at the facility on 4/30/19 the inspector observed the second floor window, at the landing on the second floor, to be missing any modification preventing it from opening past 6 inches or fewer.

Correction Required: Windows or doors above the ground floor that open directly to the outdoors and are accessible to children shall be constructed, modified or adapted to limit the opening to 6 or fewer inches.

Noncompliance Area: While at the facility on 4/30/19 the inspector observed several first aid kits in the classrooms that were within reach of children.

Correction Required: A first-aid kit must be inaccessible to children.

Noncompliance Area: While at the facility on 4/30/19 the inspector observed the outdoor play space and noted that the bilco doors and blue exterior metal stairs within the outdoor play space were rusted and in need of repair.

Correction Required: Floors, walls, ceilings and other surfaces, including the facility's outdoor play space surfaces shall be kept clean, in good repair and free from visible hazards.

Noncompliance Area: On 3/16/18 while at the facility for the renewal inspection the inspector observed a Diaper Genie in the Early Head Start Classroom versus a hands free lidded garbage can.

Correction Required: If disposable diapers are provided by a parent or by a facility, a soiled diaper shall be discarded by immediately placing the diaper into a plastic-lined, hands-free covered can.

Noncompliance Area: Observed a half door between the toddler and infant area that was locked with a hook and eye latch.

Correction Required: Stairways, hallways, exits from rooms, exits from the facility and other means of egress serving as an exit shall be unobstructed.
