About the Provider

The Wilds program is steeped in the natural cycles and rhythms of the outdoors. This open-ended, play-based learning atmosphere facilitates knowledge-gathering, and supports social-emotional and physical development as well as promotes critical thinking skills. It encourages a safe, non-judgmental space for risk-taking. We believe that risk is essential to learning. It allows space for the expansion of problem-solving skills, self-confidence, independence, resilience, and creativity. Learning in this way encourages trial and error, failure, and success. It helps build a deep and meaningful connection to our world and an understanding of how we fit into it. The cycles of nature provide a rich learning environment and teachers work with these natural rhythms to create curricula that are developmentally appropriate to the specific ages in each classroom. We strongly believe that learning happens through play. Learning and exploring are hands-on and are facilitated through interest areas. Our program is designed to enhance children¿s development in the following areas: creativity, self-expression, decision-making, problem-solving, responsibility, independence, and reasoning. We encourage openness to that which is unfamiliar to us, and the ability to work and play with others.
