Plan: I spoke with all the afternoon teachers and told them what happened. We discussed communication and the need to make sure the person you're talking to has heard what was said. I also talked to them about rephrasing what another teacher said in response to make it clear that teachers know what was said and was heard and understood. I have a staff meeting scheduled for 12/14/19 and will discuss the importance of communication and using our walkie talkies effectively. I'll also schedule a workshop on communication with Rochelle Taylor, a principal in OKC. We will maintain staff/child ratios and proper supervision at all time, on the playground and in classrooms. Plan: CKLC staff will continue to follow diaper and toileting procedures as required by Child Care Licensing. To ensure that staff is complying with CKLC and Child Care Licensing requirements, management will conduct a periodic check throughout classrooms, assessing daily diapers logs to ensure staff is properly following procedures and meeting children's needs. |

This location has consistently had staffing issues, before and after COVID. The front desk employees do not go out of their way to be friendly or make you feel welcome. Our family was loyal to this center during CKLC ups and downs but they are not willing to do the same for your children. There are several other good daycares in Norman, I would suggest going somewhere else.
My daughter has been attending CKLC since July 2011, when we yanked her out of the previous daycare for lack of supervision and abuse from other kids. I love how the teachers at CKLC has a monthly calendar and a daily sheet to tell you what you child is eating and doing, even down to what kind of nap she got. Everyone there knows my daughter by name and says hi and bye to her upon arriving/leaving. Her teacher in the 2 yr class while often give me updates on my daughter's progress and behaviour, so we know what to work on at home.
My disappointments: They don't seem to do well on working with her on potty training, despite me supplying the training pantie, etc. She is also 3 years old now and stuck in the 2 year old class. The popularity of this school has it's pros and cons, but I still think it's one of the best schools in Norman.
My child has attended this center for three years now. They have since switched directors three times. My child is learning like crazy thanks to a very good teacher this year. But even this certain teacher is not staying any longer than a year. It is true that the center over fills their classrooms and because of this, regardless of whether your child has out grown a certain room, they are stuck their for a year. I am not entirely unhappy with this center, just wish the turn over would stop.
My daughter has attended since the school opened and has had nothing but a positive experience she started when she was 8 weeks old. She loves all the teachers even the ones she has not had the pleasure of being in the class with yet. All of the staff call her by name not just the teachers of her class. Any problems I have had which have been few have been resolved immediately. She is generally excited to go to school most days which makes it easy on the parents. I would recommend this school and have to many people. In fact CKLC was recommended to me by a parent who's kids went to the OKC school. I feel very fortunate to have gotten a space when they opened and while I liked the old Director I think the new Director is wonderful also. In fact my daughter goes running to hug her almost as soon as she sees her. My advice is check it out and make your own opinion. The classes are set up so you can watch interations through a glass without the teacher or children seeing you.
My son attended CKLC in Norman since it opened in Feb. 2009. We had a positive experience up until the Director changed in July 2010. At first it seemed like the change would be positive. All was fine until I questioned what was going on in the 2 year old room. There had been a lot of transition new director, room change, teacher changes. The kids were basically bored and running wild. They were having issues with biting, although I understand that is age appropriate it was accessive. There are 16 2 year olds in one small room, up to code but for the situation too many. I asked that my son be transitioned to the next room, he was fully potty trained and aging out of the room. They said no. There was no where to go and he was not ready. No specifics could be provided for what would make him ready. I was basically told that if I had a problem we could go somewhere else. This is ultimately what I have done. I was very luckily able to get my son into an more appropriate preschool. This center is poorly managed to say the least. Over the course of three weeks I left the owner 4 messages and he has still not returned my call. On top of all this I am now having to fight to stop autodraft payments from being withdrawn for services I am no longer receiving. My advice is you are looking at Creative Kids... Keep looking.
