The Children's Education Center, AHRC Nassau, has been open since September 1968. Currently the school operates a 12-month education and therapeutic program for children with developmental delays and developmental disabilities. Ages range from 18 months to 21 years of age. The school consists of five early childhood classrooms for children with and without developmental disabilities. The Early Childhood Program is a New York State Education Department approved program. Additional programmatic approvals from the Department of Health and the Department of Mental Health for the provision of educational and clinic services to children with developmental disabilities or developmental delays is in place
