Findings: The general public and day care children are using Twisters, the gym area, at the same time. When Berlin Activities Depot first opened, and Twisters, was used by the general public during child care hours, the doors between Twisters and Berlin Education Station were kept shut and locked, so the general public would not have access to the children in the child care. During COVID, the adult exercise room and the Ninja room were converted into child care classrooms, once that happened the use of Twisters by the general public during child care hours should have stopped. According to the director this morning class ended today. The gym opens to the general public at 5:15, according to the director 3 of the 4 rooms are closed by 5:15, the school age room closes at 6:00. Effective immediately the school age children will be moved to the child care center of Berlin Activities Depot before 5:15 and the doors between the two areas will be closed, and locked.

Findings: Staffing Patterns were posted. Staff Patterns were not complete, some of the staffing patterns are not showing the number of children in care, at any one time. Staffing Patterns are not showing breaks, showing some staff in classrooms up to 10 hrs without a break...staffing patterns need to show who covers breaks, so that it can be determined that the staff giving breaks are qualified and approved. Some rooms look as though the room opens with 8 children at 6:00am, but there isn't a staff member in the room until 8:00am. Staffing Patterns need to reflect the staff members and number of children in a room at any given time. Even though staff and number of children are a constant change, staffing patterns still should reflect the staff who are in the room....new staff member, or a change in capacity that brings in another staff, staffing patterns should be updated. New staffing patterns should be emailed to the this Licensing Specialist by 8/13/2021.

This is not a place for a child that needs extra support and guidance. The cost was not as displayed for two children it took about half of my pay check to pay for just one week. They have an app that you can install on your phone but rarely was it used particularly for my older child. For me just not a wonderful experience all around.
