Description: Welcome to the Acton Cooperative School -- a preschool for children 2 years, 9 months through pre-kindergarten conveniently located in West Acton, Massachusetts. We are licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and our activities are overseen by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).
Acton Cooperative School staff and parents have been “working together to make learning fun” since 1957. We focus on learning through play, with teachers directing play in ways that allow children to develop important skills.
We take great pride in our highly trained teachers and very low staff turnover. All of our teachers are certified in Early Childhood Education, have completed first aid and CPR courses, and are parents themselves. In addition, all of our teachers have been with us for many years, most for more than 10 years.
Our school is governed by the Director and an elected Parent Board, and run by parents. As a parent-run school, each parent spends time in the classroom and plays a role, large or small, in managing the school.
This parent involvement means that costs stay low, the school becomes a tight-knit and supportive community, and parents play a unique, hands-on role in their child’s first school experience. It also means happy parents and kids! Children excitedly anticipate their parent's day at school, and parents enjoy watching their child learn and interact with friends.
