My family was with ABC Academy for three years. For most of that time, we supported the program and trusted the staff. But the way things ended exposed a serious lack of leadership and professionalism. ABC Academy did not follow its own three-strike policy. My daughter never received a formal strike, yet she was abruptly dismissed. Parents are expected to follow rules — and we did. The program should be held to the same standard. The director’s call to me was unacceptable. It was driven by anger, not professionalism. My daughter, sitting in the room, was called “rude” and “disrespectful,” and I was told her therapy “doesn’t seem to be working.” These comments were not only inappropriate — they were harmful. Leadership means setting the tone; instead, anger was allowed to lead. The final impression was equally discouraging: my children’s belongings weren’t collected, and when I returned later, staff ignored me. That disregard for families spoke volumes. On top of that, staff turnover has been significant. While turnover happens everywhere, the departure of long-standing employees — the very people who provided the best care — is telling. Their absence left a clear gap in stability. And when I attempted to reach out via the business’s Facebook page, I was blocked by both the page and the owner. Shutting down communication instead of addressing concerns shows exactly why this program is struggling. Children will make mistakes. Parents do their best. Leaders are expected to rise above frustration and model professionalism. After three years of loyalty, the way ABC Academy handled our family was not just disappointing — it was unacceptable.
This was posted on BBB and Google. The owner replied on BBB and lied about the policy, citing incidents from 2 years prior. In the policy, the "strikes" reset multiple times per year. I was also told by a former employee that the owner yelled in my child's face the day she was kicked out. Additionally, I saw a screenshot of the owner asking folks to write good reviews for the business and claimed former employees were lying in their reviews. All around disappointed in the owner.
