Description: The YMCA of Austin offers afterschool care for children in grades K - 5 at fifteen licensed sites in three Austin area school districts. The Afterschool Care Program provides on-site care for your child, beginning when school is dismissed and continuing until 6:30 p.m.
Participating children learn valuable social and scholastic skills in a safe, fun, and supervised environment.
The afterschool care program offers a constructive balance of counselor led activities and free time for child exploration. Daily theme activities include arts and crafts, science/math activities, nutrition/wellness activities, presentation activities (music, theater, cooking, etc) and literacy. In addition, the Y delivers CATCH physical activity lessons daily and has made a commitment to meet the Y's Healthy Eating and Physical Activity Standards (HEPA). Lastly, there is always time for homework, a nutritious afternoon snack, and outside time on the playground.
