I did not realize that Growing Places had now become Talented Tots. I started my girls there over a month ago and am very happy with the facility. Based on MommaA's comments, it sounds like I just missed a very messy transitional time between owners. I'm sure there were reasons for the reduction in staff and then the inevitable reduction in students. I might have to disagree with MommaA's comment that, "Soon after the daycare/preschool changed names about a dozen kids werre told they could no longer go there without any notice, and without a valid reason. Also about half of the teachers were fired as well, for reasons unknown." I am sure the reasons were there, just maybe not made public.

I find the new place, Talented Tots, very comparable to others (if not better) as far as the price to have my girls attend goes, as well as the opportunites Talented Tots provides. The day my girls started a new director had also started, who has a master's degree in social work and worked previously at another Talented Tots.

I enjoy the extras the daycare provides: gymnastics/dance, art, computers, music and Spanish classes. The curriculum is outstanding which is not a surprise since the owner is a former teacher for a local school district. I love that the teachers work 10-hour days so you see the same teacher when you drop off and also pick up.

As a current 4th grade teacher and a former employee of a daycare in Smithville, I have to say that this learning facility is providing a safe environment where my girls can grow socially, academically and emotionally. Despite a vast number of changes in our lives, my girls are thriving there and my 2-and-a-half-year-old is FINALLY interested in potty-training. I have nothing negative to say about Talented Tots and would highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

This facility was great when we first started sending out child here. But after a few weeks there would be a different teacherthere every day picking up our child. Always someone new that we had never met before. Then about 6months after him going there, the director quit and none of the parents were informed. The facility was ran by girls ranging from age 18-23 that were obviously not qualified for the role as a director. We did not find out there was no directior until we went to go speak with her and the employees said she had quit weeks ago. The facility is now called Talented Tots. We were not informed about this at all and was just surprised one day to see a new sign up with the new name. Children thrive on routine and constantly changing teachers, names and such is the opposite of what a child deserves especially if you are paying over 160 dollars a week for a 4year old, who is potty trained and well behaved as long as he has his routine. Soon after the daycare/preschool changed names about a dozen kids werre told they could no longer go there without any notice, and without a valid reason. Also about half of the teachers were fired as well, for reasons unknown. The teachers did contacts FOX4 problem solvers, but as far as I know nothing has happened. Needless to say we are out hundreds of dollars to a company that had teachers working there that were not even registered and did not have the correct ratio teachers to children, and then to top it off we had no where to send our 4year old that morning and we both work full time day jobs. Im writing this to let everyone out therre considering sending their child to Growing places/Talented Tots that therre are much bettterr and cheaper child care facilities in the area. Our children are the world to us and why would we want anything but the best for them?
