Romulus Early Childhood Center

To call this place a learning center is a joke. This facility has little to no direction, no specific goal and is no more than a glorified baby-sitting day care service. Many of the children here have issues that clearly demonstrate they belong in a special education setting. Teachers here are actually being discouraged to teach anything and are not qualified to handle the emotional, psychological and physical challenges these children present along with being distracted from what other children are doing. Their hands are tied when it comes to discipline and there is no support staff to assist with behavioral problems, being that the one child psychologist available to students is of no help. To my knowledge there are no physical nor occupational therapists nor social worker(s) available to help these children as there are at some other Early Childhood Learning Centers. Teachers and directors regularly leave here for positions elsewhere due to the lack of an involved and full-time supervisor. Interim directors do their best but are short-staffed when it comes to teachers leaving. Children along with teachers have been injured by children with behavioral problems that obviously belong in a program better suited to meet their needs.
