I am an employee

We take any concerns involving the safety and well-being of children extremely seriously, which is why we feel it is important to respond to the serious allegations made in the recent review.

There is no physical abuse, verbal abuse, or daily neglect occurring at Play2Learn, and we strongly dispute the accusations made in this post. Our children’s safety, care, and well-being are our highest priorities every single day.

Play2Learn is a licensed childcare center and is subject to oversight, inspections, and follow-up by the State of Indiana. State visits are a normal part of licensed childcare, especially when concerns are reported. When items are brought to our attention, we address them promptly. For example, during a recent visit, one item addressed was that our weekly menus had not been posted. That was corrected within 24 hours and has remained corrected.

We have made several positive changes within our center over the past few months, including changes in staffing and leadership. While staff turnover can be difficult, we are intentionally building a team of teachers who genuinely want to be here, who are mentally and emotionally present, and who understand the responsibility that comes with caring for children.

This review appears to stem from a former employee(s) following recent staffing changes and contains numerous accusations that we know to be false and misleading. Employment disagreements or personal frustrations should never be turned into public allegations that children are being abused or neglected.

We will not engage in an ongoing public argument or disclose confidential information involving children, families, or former employees. However, we will continue documenting false accusations and protecting our children, families, staff, and the reputation of our center through the appropriate channels when necessary.

We are incredibly proud of the progress being made at Play2Learn and of the current staff and families who continue working together to create a loving, supportive environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn and grow.

Natalie Cavanaugh operates Play2learnLLC as if state laws are a suggestion which she can use her discretion whether to follow or not. Additionally children who attend Play2learn have been and will always be in harms way, specifically due to laws being disregarded such as; nutrition, food handling and safety, untrained staff, staff without background checks/fingerprints/drug screening, and an environment of secrecy where teachers are commanded to hide incidents from parents. Because there is no transparency with parents most families will never know the physical abuse, verbal abuse, and daily neglect their children endure. When every single family and staff member has had the same experience, those voices need to be heard and parents need to take heed to those warnings. Children are not safe under Natalie Cavanaugh's care.
Stop deleting your negative reviews Natalie Cavanaugh and Erin Williams. The truth will always prevail.

Think twice

★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

A completely toxic environment for everybody. Children are left in the hands of teachers that are highly unqualified or just shouldn't be around children solely for the purpose of not being short staffed. The director wants to make sure she gets lots of time off of work. That is more important than who she leaves your children with. Nutrition is a joke. Saving a buck is definitely a priority over letting your children get a second piece of ham and not be starving when they lay down for nap. The air is not allowed to be turned down in the summer. Children spend their days sweaty and with red faces. If teachers even think about asking to turn it down they get yelled at by the director. Any interaction with the director is typically hostile because she doesn't want to be bothered. Multiple staff have left in the last 3 months because of the toxic/abusive work environment that has been created and sustained by the director. I would suggest thinking twice before taking you children here.

Oh if I could 0 stars! The director never seems to know what she's doing. I don't know how she even opened a daycare. Every morning when I arrive all of the rooms are over ratio. She treats her employees awful. Especially her employees that are moms. If you have to pump to make sure your own child is fed your treated like a burden. Her assistant does work hard but has been so brainwashed that she feels like she has to show up to work even on crutches. Which puts more stress and responsibility on everybody else around her. She feels like she has to tell the director everything that's said. She has a part time person that works like and hour and a half who is lazy and entitled. As soon as she arrives she just sits and acts like she is better than everybody which upsets the whole building. The director does nothing about this but knit picks everybody else. She never tells her staff they're appreciated. She definitely doesn't pay people what they're worth or she takes that pay away. Then acts like you weren't paid that before. She only cares about cashing in herself. You shouldn't do this just for the money! Kids are kept there when they're sick which gets other kids sick. Just not a good environment.

I’d give zero stars if I could. Owner is terrible. Unorganized and rude. She leaves several times a day to run errands, like to go tanning, talks down to employees, yells at the children. Can’t keep employees because of the toxic environment. No training offered, unfair expectations, favoritism for owners nephew, who is terrible. Kids are able to run out the door, employees have to chase them down. One kids stabbed another with a pencil, with no repercussions. It’s insane and unsafe for children and staff!

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Looking thru the reviews of my child's daycare frustrated me.
quickly realizing I need to start bragging and leaving positive reviews when i experience them. everyone is quick to talk on the negatives, but not enough people give the positives on places.

Ive never had a problem with my childs daycare. they really look out for them and notice things involving their peers that i dont get to see when we are home. i work and have employees under my management and the director is probably having the same problem i am, people dont want to work. or think they can get a full paycheck by doing next to nothing. i know those teachers do more than just "play with kids" all day. they work as hard as moms do. and im sure some young people that apply at a daycare are not expecting the work load that is required of them.
the ones in my childs classroom have their hands full, and they still have a smile on their face and treat my child as if they were their own.

no complaints

5 stars! The teachers are amazing with my son. They really prepared him for the entrance test that he had to take to get into kindergarten. Teachers are very honest, my son plays rough outside and when he gets a scratch or a mark from outside they are honest with me when they don't know exactly what happened, I would rather them be honest with me than to create a story like our last daycare did. The director doesn't always answer my call when I called but that was because she was being involved in the classrooms which I love! She always called me back in a timely manner. Or if it was an emergency they have an app you can reach the teacher immediately thru a message. Overall we love this daycare! we have been here since it opened in 2020. there were a couple teachers that weren't the best, but they have since left and for the last year or more, the group of ladies that work there now are just the best. The new assistant director is such a sweetheart and is very informative and can answer my questions if the director is not available (I can be categorized as a helicopter mom)

overall i don't have any complainants and I had to take a minute to brag

By far the worst daycare I have ever experienced. The director can’t keep employees bc of the way she treats them and talks behind everyone’s back (employees and the parents) but she wouldn’t like to hear what her employees have to say about her…. she’s fake, greedy, snobby, disrespectful, ugly attitude, etc. She may have ran an in home daycare for 20 years but she should have stuck with that and not this business. The most unorganized person. She leaves and returns multiple times throughout the day. Her assistant is pretty good and does more s*** then the director does half the time… SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN ALREADY!!!!

I love working here. The staff is always super helpful and friendly. It was easy feeling overwhelmed at first but my coworkers were they to help. The director is very hands on and super communicative with both staff and parents.

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Started my daughter in daycare for the first time, the owner was so understanding on putting my mind at ease. I get great communication with the teachers thru the app, pictures updated thru out the day. And my daughter comes home telling me how much fun her day was, and she does during the day and what they learned. They even did a Easter egg hunt and she loved it.

Not sure if the other reviews even have the right daycare. But I’ve had nothing but great experiences here. My daughter got a scratch on her arm and I was called after it happened and they took care of it as if I was there with cleaning it, and putting a bandaid on it. It was nothing serious. But they took great care of her. You can tell the owner is a mom herself! Totally recommend

Not even 1 star. I am so disappointed how my son was hurt and we were never given an answer as to what happened to him. The director is so unprofessional and didn’t offer to view the cameras didn’t offer to have us come in and talk to her. She didn’t care about my sons safety. I am so disgusted that I trusted this place for years. Now I know why my son cried every day when he would get home. He was traumatized. He was punished. He was abused and neglected. This place needs to be shut down. I have never experienced such a hateful and awful situation and I have other kids who have been through other daycares and never experienced this ever. This place is awful. Read the other reviews from previous employees. It’s true. SHUT THIS PLACE DOWN.

Most of the employees at this facility were not fired. Most of us quit because of the unprofessional director. Most of us have witnessed things that would get that place shut down so fast. Most of the employees treated those kids with nothing but love and kindness. You’ll never know how the director actually is until you’re working inside this facility closely with her. Most of these parents would be furious with how they “discipline” those kids. Yelling, restricting them into high chairs, crossing the childs arms so they cant move, putting their legs over the child so they cant move. The director wouldnt let us tell parent’s if there kids got hurt unless it left a mark because she didnt want to deal with the parents. She talks badly about her employees to other employees. Talking badly about the parents whose children attend this daycare. So next time you wonder why she has so many employees come and go think about that.

My Grandchildren ages 3 and 4 have attended this daycare over 1 1/2 years. My daughter moved here from Florida and is very happy with this daycare. Her children are happy and always eager to go every morning. It is my understanding that the bad reviews are from a couple of disgruntled former fired employees trying to get the daycare shut down. The owner/director is extremely nice and keeps the parents up to date on everything by email.

Never met a director that cares more about the kids than this one. The current staff are so sweet and caring towards my child. From my knowledge the recent bad reviews come from former disgruntled employees who never seemed too warm towards the children, from what I saw. Would highly recommend to anybody.

I’m a former employee and current parent.
Seems the last 4-reviews are from former employees that quit or were fired.

This daycare has never trapped kids in highchairs, screamed at kids in their face. I’ve known the owner for 12 years and she’s probably the most respectful of these kids that I’ve ever seen in a director. She makes sure every child is treated with respect and that they know they are loved. She takes pride in her daycare 100%
She had a in-home daycare for 20 years.

Yes turn over is crazy everywhere. People don’t like that they have to work for their pay. Being in a daycare is more than just sitting and playing. It’s a lot like being a mom and juggling mandatory cleaning, changing diapers, lesson plans, teacher and also trying to have fun with learning thru play. And people come to work at a daycare thinking that they just get to sit on the floor and play and collect a paycheck. That’s why they didn’t last long.

My daughter has been going to Play2Learn for almost 3 years and I wouldn’t send her anywhere else because of the director. I worked there for just shy of 2 years. Left because I got a job that went with my degree.

I would recommend Play2Learn LLC to everyone.

I am very picky when choosing childcare. With this being my second one to go through the daycare world, I am extremely grateful coming across Play2learn. The Director is hands on in everything she does. There is open communication with any questions you may have and she has worked hard on making her building a beautiful facility. My son has been here from age 4 months to currently 16 months old. They follow your instructions. My son had medical feeding issues and I left daily knowing they heard me every day. He excels with his friends and through play. We hope to continue our partnership with Play2learn until he goes off to elm school.
