My daughter attended St. Mary's ECC from the time she was 1.5-5 years old. She had a great experience and the teachers/staff were excellent.
With this being part of the St. Mary’s hospital we had entrusted them with the care of our child. First mistake was that they had fed our child someone else’s breast milk while she was a infant. When they notified us; they refused to give us the details as to when and who provided it. Which I understand trying to protect your employee but I am entrusting them with the well-being of my child so I expect trust and open communication. The director Chris Schnell refused to give us more info so I had to file a complaint with the hospital. Another director/VP (of disease/legal) called me and explained that Chris had been worried about a lawsuit. The director then proceeded to give me all of the information. I wasn’t mad at the teachers as I know mistakes can happen. After testing of the breast milk donor all things were cleared and my daughter was free of disease. So we decided to keep our daughter there which is something later we will regret…. COVID-19 hit, initially along with a lot of other people we kept our daughter home for two months. After restrictions being lifted, weeks of thoughts weighing the pros/cons of sending our daughter back to daycare we decided with all of the “policies” they put in place it was as safe as things could get for a daycare. After all it is St. Mary’s (Hospital) Early Childhood Center! E-mails and large signs on the doors state that parents HAVE to wear masks while entering the building…. This is where things go wrong, I put on my mask and enter the building on 7/1/2020 to pick up my daughter. I notice that a father in front of me is not wearing a mask, he proceeds to pick-up one of his infant children from a classroom with two teachers who say nothing about his mask. He then proceeds to walk thru the rest of the daycare to pick up his child who happens to be outside with my daughter. Another 3 teachers see him and say nothing. I ask two teachers Kevin (?last name?) and another teacher Lori Baker if they are not enforcing the face mask policy. Kevin (teacher) responds “Yes! We are enforcing it!”…. I ask “well what was that then?” He again responds “We are enforcing the policy, he must have slipped past the front door.” (they have three entrances for parents and only one is monitored by “director” Chris Schnell) Then the other teacher Lori Baker says “We can’t do anything about it, we cant force them to wear a mask.” Well if they can’t enforce their own policies that they created and are all over the building what can we trust them with. We certainly can’t trust them with the safety of children.
