As a parent, I usually have a difficult time trusting caregivers. This place is different. It is safe, clean and friendly. My daughter comes home and won’t stop talking about how much fun she had at the daycare. The director and teachers do an outstanding job giving kids the learning experiences they need. I am so glad my daughter is here!
The management at this Center is horrible. The way that Elaine Fanto treats the parents AND the employees at On The Hill is just DISGUSTING. She degrades and disrespects her employees in front of children, and in front of parents dropping children off. She does not truly care for any of the children in that center unless they are her own grandchildren who attend. You can always distinguish which children those are. Usually sitting in the office eating candy, not having to participate in classroom activities with the rest of the children, or never getting reprimanded for bad behavior. They can pretty much do what they want when they want. And make sure not to piss off Elaine, she will not only disrespect you as a parent, but she will make sure to hurt your child in the process. All your hard earned money that goes to Elaine for childcare services, doesn't go to her employees. It goes to her spoiled rotten ADULT, MARRIED, daughters. The teachers only get paid for two snow days a year, but don't worry, you as parents still need to pay for each snow day that your child can't be there. The employees paychecks bounce all the time. Elaine Fanto is her own worst enemy. She should not be allowed to run a business. On top of all of that, her three children don't need to pay daycare expenses for their children, BUT Elaine makes sure to write it off at the end of the year as if they do, so that they can claim it on their taxes! Make sure you don't have the " naughty " child, or Elaine will make sure they sit at the lego table for lunch, away from alllllll of his or her friends.
My child has attended this center for more than five years, we have had a wonderful experience. The administration is attentive to all of our needs and is there to clarify any policy. The teachers have been their for many years, they are ALL familiar with my child. They have a progressive curriculum that exceeds what a child needs before entering kindergarten. As a working Parant and also a teacher, I am aware of how solid this program is. I had several recommendations from other parents about attending, they were correct in their evaluation. They have waiting list to get into the program but the director and owner work with you to get placed. It is the best start you can give your child. I highly recommend On the Hill to pre-school parents.
The above review was written by a seventeen year old part time employee. She has no knowledge of state regulations, program requirements or work ethic. NYS has high quality child care because of their requirement for certified teachers working in the classrooms. Her position was as a floater at the closing of the day. Because of her abrasive personality she DID NOT blend in well with the other staff. This facility has been in business for 15 years, has a progressive program and high quality staff. Their lengthy waiting list reflects the great demand of this high quality program from so many happy and satisfied Syracuse families.
