I have used this provider for less than 6 months

*Long Post Warning*

I had one of the worst experiences as a mother picking my son up from daycare on July 27, 2023. MerryLand Day Care in Darlington, South Carolina called me at 9:40 telling me that my son threw up. I arrived at the daycare at 10:00 to pick him up. I walk in and my son was sitting down on a chair, and the look on his face alone hurt me so bad. He just looked so sad. I then go to hold him, and realize that my son has DRIED UP FECES LITERALLY FROM HIS BUTT DOWN TO HIS FEET AND IN HIS SHOES!!! I show his teacher and she says “i’m sorry I didn’t realize or I would have changed him” and went on about her business. No care, and no remorse. Correct me if i’m wrong, I feel like that teacher should have at the very least helped me get my son cleaned up. I mean the poop was literally sticking to his leg, it was in his socks, his shoes, it was just terrible. I had to send my daughter behind the teacher 3 times for help because every time I asked her for something she would give me what I asked for and then just walk away. First time, to ask her for his change of clothes, second time, to ask for wipes, and third time, to ask for an extra pull up. I just wanted to clean him enough so he could have a comfortable ride home. Aside from all of that here are my issues. First, a blind man can tell my baby pooped on himself because of the smell of the room. Not only pooped, but as soon as I walked in I could clearly see that he had urinated on himself as well, a huge wet spot right on his shorts!!! Secondly, how often were you checking on him to NOT NOTICE he pooped on himself? Because if u were checking on him regularly like u should have, u would have CLEARLY SEEN AND SMELLED POOP ON HIM! You cannot tell me, as his mother, that he just made that poop, there is no way it would’ve hardened on his skin that bad if he has just did that. As a mother, we send our babies to school hoping these teachers love and care for them!! My son was neglected in the worst way and i’m so hurt and I feel so guilty. My son will not be returning to that facility. I AM DISGUSTED!! My son has been going there for 3 weeks. He is 3 years old. Every morning I drop him off I pray to God to show me the things my son is not able to communicate to me . Although I’m hurt my baby had to go through this, I’m so thankful that god answered my prayers and showed me exactly what i needed to see, this isn’t the school for him.

Further more, I posted this on my personal page, (Which is pinned, so please feel free to go look, comment, share) and the owner of the facility commented under my post calling me a liar, and bashing my character. As I have said plenty of times, I gain nothing by lying on this daycare, as I have been nothing but respectful to herself and her staff. This was not the first time my son came home with urine/feces in his underwear, but I decided to not say anything because I DO UNDERSTAND THINGS HAPPEN, THINGS CAN GO UNNOTICED, especially having to look over so many children !! But, instead of her holding herself and staff accountable she’s coming up with excuses as to why my son was ever in this predicament. If my character was so bad I would have been raising hell when I walked in and seen my son in the predicament he was in. But instead, as angry as I was, I quietly and calmly cleaned my baby up, as at that moment he was the only one suffering, and my only focus was wanting him to be comfortable, when I was done, I walked out of the facility quiet and calm with my children! As mothers we expect the best care, we know that no one is going to love and care for them like us, but this was pure neglect, and I am speaking out for my child. I’m sure there are plenty mothers who send there child to this day care and may have had the complete opposite experience, because let’s be honest, a lot of good reviews led me there, but unfortunately my son and I weren’t so lucky.
