I am an employee

I was an employee with YIA for a year. When I had started the center was sold to me as a sort of child care paradise. Often referred to as the “Harvard” of daycares. It felt and looked very bright, and pristine...
This is a BOLD FACED LIE. As I soon found out, after a week of “training” you are placed in a random room- no matter your experience or where you feel comfortable. Suddenly you are in charge of 24-100+ kids lives barely even knowing what you are doing. I worked with the Early Preschool kids so it was 24 children for me. The kids were the best part of the job and the only reason I would ever consider returning. When you yourself are barely trained they place even less trained coworkers with you. There are no bathroom breaks unless you badger the two directors- Kate and Sarah. Meals can barely be considered meals there either. Over 90% of my time there - there was barely enough food for the kids let alone the teachers. I not so fondly remember the sounds of my two year olds crying because they were still hungry and got a package of two cracked and half a slice of cheese as a “snack.” The playground for each room was sad and unfriendly to children. Fake grass and concrete - 1 slide. Nothing else.
The rooms themselves are small and constricting - and there are sewage issues with no ventilation. We were forced to pour gallons of bleach into our shared changing area to stop the smell but then told to not open any doors to allow fresh air. No wonder we all got sick so often.
I not only recommend not working there I STRONGLY ADVISE not leaving your kids there. The directors pretend to care about your kids and their employees but they don’t even give them breaks. That place is what causes people to have mental breakdowns and snap.
I left the company 6 months ago and I hear it has only gotten worse. I’m surprised it hasn’t been shut down yet.
