Robinson Springs Head Start/early Hsc

We have used this preschool program two times. The first was several years ago, when my grandson was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He was prescribed to the "Early Intervention Program" where he had twice weekly Speech and Occupational Therapies. My grandson had NO waiting period after his application. He flourished under the care that he received there (as well as other outside therapeutic programs). This child is Caucasian (which I mention as our Headstart Program serves a predominately Black community.)

However, for my now 3 1/2 years old granddaughter, for whom I had applied to the Headstart Program when she was 2, the entrance process has been both lengthy AND painful. My granddaughter was exposed to abuse early in life and for this reason I hold custody.
Even with the reports from the courts and medical professionals, explaining why she would benefit from Early Headstart, she was put off until she is well into her 3s. The center has NOT helped to toilet her, as they have EVERY other child assigned to them. I have been in contact and conference with the district in hopes that they would help my baby. She is still not toileted, and has not had the preschool 'work' that will prepare her for elementary school. She has been abandoned as far as the potty training goes. The teachers just tell me and her mother that "(we) need to get her to use the potty", (we) need to see that she will stay dry". This is following a meeting that I called for with the director, behavioral therapists and teachers voicing my concerns that my baby is dealing with trauma memories (I had taken her to counselors in the private sector who encouraged me to ask the school for help with her behavioral challenges).
So, I am not thoroughly happy with my experiences. ( Oh! my granddaughter is of mixed blood- I, who represent her am Caucasian).
I believe that we are confronted by reverse racial discrimination THIS year.
