I have been using Cross Creek since my oldest son was 2 years old (he is now 7). I have a 2 year old attending. I am pregnant with my third child and he will be attending as well. I moved from Texas and my oldest had attended three daycares before attending Cross Creek. When we moved to Tulsa, I had heard great things about Cross Creek and really wanted my child to get in. Due to the waiting list, I had to enroll him in another facility. My child was so unhappy that I called Kathy, the director of Cross Creek, weekly waiting for a spot. I was so happy when he got in!! Cross Creek has been like a second family to my boys. They are obviously loved. They come home with stories of everything they learned and did. My oldest went into Pre-K knowing how to write and recognize all letters of the alphabet, both big and small. My two year old can already count to 15 and sing his ABC's very clearly! When my youngest was in the ER for Pneumonia, Kathy the director, offered to watch my oldest on a Friday night to help out. Several of the other teachers were messaging me and checking on him. It was so nice to know they actually cared. I recommend Cross Creek to everyone I know with small kids. They really are the best.
We were at Cross Creek from the time our child was born. A few years later, things changed drastically. The teachers were great but due to the director’s inability to manage effectively and respectfully, a large turnover began. A few quality teachers remained but then it seemed young and inexperienced people came in. We watched it go from a loving, stable, and academically focused faith based program to chaos and endless play with no structure and limited supervision. Children have been hurt over and over and some parents claim they haven’t been told the truth about how their child got hurt. The center went from a 2 star rating to a 1, without the director having the simple decency to notifying parents. The pastor has been contacted by numerous families regarding their concerns and the families are dismissed and nothing is resolved. I think the director means well but she clearly is burnt out. She is barely at the center, rarely involved, we had never seen her in a classroom to help out or fill in but often heard she was on yet another vacation. How she has been on so many vacations after being on medical leave off and on for so long, it’s unsettling. It definitely makes you wonder what is really going on with the management of families tuition. The overall community and warmth of the center is no longer. We hated to pull our child from all they’ve known and all their friends. But it is what we had to do to have a peace about our child. Safety and care is of upmost importance. Unfortunately neither the director or pastor seem to understand that. Please research and do your diligence before considering Cross Creek. The building is nice and clean and it’s in Jenks but don’t be fooled. I truly hope the pastor is able to grasp the seriousness of the state of the center and make some much needed changes and bring it back to what it once was.
