I have used this provider for more than 6 months

I've been waiting to write a review for this establishment in order to collect my thoughts after the very disappointing experience my husband and I had. The one saving grace of this place is the teachers, they were always loving and nurturing to my child and I have nothing but good things to say about the teachers that cared for my child. Now for the bad: The facility itself is not great, the building is very old and the maintenance to upkeep this establishment is just not there. The driveway is covered in white stone and there are potholes left and right. There is virtually no security measures in place, the front doors are left unlocked ALL DAY LONG (even though in the handbook it states it will be locked at 9) leaving any stranger to walk in and out of the building where your child resides for 8+ hours a day. The computer you are supposed to use to log your child's coming and goings is hit or miss, usually not charged. As for the decaying building, the director tries to maintain it by forcing parents to partake in fundraisers (that you do not agree to upon signing the parent handbook) so in addition to the hundreds of dollars you are already spending every month for your child to attend the daycare (not to mention the supply fee) you are also having to either raise money on their behalf through selling their fundraiser items or be "billed/charged" a fee for not partaking in the fundraiser. A lot of the items used for the children seem to be donated and are old/falling apart, albeit clean; Clean to the point where your child and his/her belongings will come home smelling like the cleaning agent they spray around the building. Now for the worst: the program director and owner, Kathy Zorn. This woman claims to care for all the children and families in her establishment, but would someone who claims to "care" kick your child out because his/her parents had enough of the rule breaking and lack of communication? Not just kick the child out by giving you a two week notice as a common courtesy and good business practice, but kick you out without any warning on a Friday afternoon, leaving you as working parents childcare-less for the following weeks to come? I put my child in this establishment because I knew several parents who were happy with the care they received, and they all had the same warning/caveat, that Kathy could be very abrasive and liked things done her way. Well, they weren't kidding, my husband and I had many complaints about a variety of DCF standards that were not being met and the consistent lack of communication about changes made to my child's room, which we promptly brought to the attention of our child's lead teacher, believing she was communicating these to her (who wants to spend the few hours they have with their child at the end of the day talking about these things with the program director?) But to no avail! And just a tip, don't bother calling DCF about any complaints you have either, simply find your family a different day care because the daycare will walk away scot-free and you'll end up paying the price as a parent. Save yourself many headaches and find yourself a day care that follows a moral compass.
