I have used this provider for more than 6 months

I only gave this daycare a star bc otherwise I wouldn’t be able to write a review. Since my nephew has started at this daycare, for 7 months ago we’ve had multiple incidents with scratches & bite marks on him. I’ve noticed on 2 occasions where i had to notify the owner Val of the bruising. She was unaware as to what happen. The final straw was her texting me of an incident involving my nephew being clawed in the face. He was neglected while she claims 3 teachers where present in the class. This was the final straw. Where is the supervision of the teacher?! Overall I don’t feel some of the staff are trained properly let alone passing a background check. She has a high turn over of new staff ever other week. Not only that she’s mixing the 1 & 2 year olds together. I’m assuming bc she doesn’t have any staff to cover the 1 year old class room and her strict rules of parent cannot pick up their kids until after 4pm!! Lastly she has been asking the parents to re enroll the kids under some CAPS program. That we should only use a password she gives all the parents Incase she needs to go in and make changes to the application. I’m assuming somebody that will benefit her money wise. ALL PARENT BE AWARE. FREE daycare or not state should be aware.

Building Blocks is absolutely amazing. I started looking for my son a daycare a few weeks ago. In that time I called multiple daycares and narrowed it down to just a few that passed my "phone interview." After I had thought I found a daycare, I visiting Building blocks. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a smile by Ms Valerie and I was asked to sit down. She was in the middle of her lunch so I figured she would've just answered a few questions and I would've been on my way, but no. She pushed her lunch aside and gave me her full attention. She spent at least an hour giving me a tour, informing me of ways I could become more knowledgeable of not just her daycare, any daycare in Athens, and informed me of all the financial options available. She had so much knowledge of what kids need and how to deliver it successfully. She used terminology that I even hear in nursing school and I was beyond impressed. I knew that's where I wanted him to be. She spent the next week helping me get everything I needed together and got my baby started. He's never been in daycare so I was beyond nervous by by day two, he was already reaching for his teachers who ALWAYS greet me with a smile. We are now on day three and my son is already counting to 10 with no hesitation. I am so grateful for this school and the owner Ms. Valerie. They've had made an intimidating experience joyful.

I am an employee

Owner has a nasty attitude. The food that was fed to children looks disgusting & is something I KNOW for a fact she wouldn't feed to any of her close ones. She claim she follow state's rule but I didn't see not once that she did. Her laundry room is filthy idk how she get a GOOD report with the State. Her starting pay is $7.25 & she has her daughter working there & she can leave whenever she want but she only gives her employers 30 minutes to break which is certainly UNFAIR!

If I could it would get a ZERO, it's nasty all the way around from the facility to most employees especially the director, she has no education on how to speak to people much less on how to run her childcare. If you are thinking about this childcare, my advice is to turn around and RUN fast & far the opposite direction!!
