The 2,000 Day Learning Experience

This morning as I was walking into the Gilbert post office I noticed the daycare bringing out the tiny kiddos and putting them in their large red strollers. I became very concerned after noticing that none of babies had on gloves. It was 15° this morning. The adult workers even had gloves on. I walked over and asked the lady with blond curly hair (the owner apparently) if she will be putting gloves on the kiddos. She snapped at me and said "we are only going around the block and they have them in their pockets. "
I walked away back to the post office but regret not staying and making sure. It bothered me immensely that the day care didn't put the gloves on before going outside. I then noticed the bigger kiddos the age that could walk coming back from their walk and about 1/3 of them didn't have gloves on either and there little hands were bright red. All the adult workers had gloves on their hands. It takes a few minutes for frost bite to occur and kids skin is more delicate than adults. What would happen if one of the kids got frost bite? I find this to be child neglect. And I'm sorry you can't use an excuse that some didn't have gloves provided. If a child doesn't have gloves then they shouldn't be going outside when it's freezing out. If I were the owner I would buy extra gloves in case of that situation.

As a mother of little children I am very deeply concerned about this daycare, if they are neglecting gloves on children when it's freezing cold out what else are they neglecting in the care of these kids. I felt obligated to post this because I want parents to know what's going on with their kids while they are being taken care of by someone they are suppose to trust.
