I am a parent that frequents the same park as this child care provider. I've seen her, her collegues, and all the children they watch on multiple occasions. Yesterday, I was really disturbed by the events that took place. I was on the play structure with my little one with about 10 of her kids. First, I noticed there was only one adult there to watch all of the kids. Second, I noticed that he was just sitting on a bench, not near the structure, and on his phone.
All the kids were playing just fine until I heard a loud "thud" followed by screaming and crying. One of the kids had hit his face on one of the steps. I went over to help him up and to see if he was okay. I looked over at the man on the bench and he just glanced up and then went back to playing on his phone! The other kids walked the little boy over to the man and the little boy just sat on the bench next to him. Didn't even check on him. Just continued to play on his phone. Ridiculous.
It's one thing to respond that way to your own child. But it's completely different when it's someone else's child who is PAYING you to watch them.
My son has been cared for by Stephanie's DC since he was 5 months old. Stephanie, Maria and Amanda take really good care of him and are always very communicative. The play area is clean and has lots of toys for the children. Stephanie's DC helps with potty training, preschool prep and music/story time. Stephanie is probably the sweetest most genuine person you will ever meet. Her intentions are good and she really cares about the children as if they were her own.
My DD has been with Stephanie's DC since she was 3months old. She is now 2. My DH and I have been completely satisfied with Stephanie and her helper Maria. The area where the children are is large and comfortable with two huge outdoor/safe play areas as well. There are children of all ages there including her own. Stephanie is awesome! She does arts and crafts, music and exercise. Stephanie, Maria and the other helpers always tell me they just love my daughter. I wish my DD could stay with her DC always. 5++++++
