I have used this provider for more than 6 months

Fort Courage is not a safe place for your kiddo. They have a multitude of issues that result from inept management who put up a wonderful front to make you feel like you are welcome and respected. They were reported to CPS and Childcare Resources due to their actions with my son, which resulted in citations for understaffing, dirty areas and improper supervision (all public information, see above info). This doesn't even cover the direct harm that was documented in relation to my son, and relayed to me by multiple staff members. Yes, a 'plan of correction' was submitted, but as long as Katie West and Amelia Logan run this place, your child is not safe (unless you work there, then you kids will get preferential treatment). The positive changes that occurred when I removed my son from this center were remarkable - eating, sleeping, behaving, talking better. The behavioral psychologist my son saw for weeks as a result of the actions of this center agreed that the behavior changes she observed are due to his removal from such a harmful environment. My son is THRIVING at his new daycare.
Shame on you, Fort Courage Childcare. I will never forgive myself for leaving my son with you to be harmed.
Fort Courage removed reviews from their Facebook page after I left the above review!

I have used this provider for more than 6 months

The director Dana Lozier is simply put a disaster. She claims that she is doing a PhD in education and she lacks the basics of intercutlural education prinicpes. Lte me explain more. When our smart and always smiling kid Danny started crying each time we picked him up, we started suspecting foul play. This lady told my wife one day that my 17 months kid needs to be toughen up as he is no more a baby and he is late in his development we weer shocled. She wanted him out of the milk baottle when he does not eat the whole day. She lacks the basic knowledge of dealing with  kids and she just wants quite time to study for her doctorate. This lady needs to be OUT ASAP.

We took our child to the Pre School in hopes of great things. My wife had toured several other preschools and liked Fort Courage; the classroom was clean and the director was pleasant and professional. Initially I did not care for the school. At the time I had a number of issues, primarily the teacher of our child had nose rings, not what I want my child to think is ok at 4 years old, also the stench of the pets when we walked into the building.
After about two weeks, our child started acting out at home and said she was very unhappy going to the school and did not feel liked by the other kids.We felt it was the transition, discussed the issue with the teacher and figured it would work it self out but it did not. That should have been our first clue. Then our daughter came home several days stating other kids had been aggressive towards her, and she was becoming more aggressive herself.
About two months later, our child's behavior did not change and we thought something might be amiss at the Fort Courage. Boy were we right. My wife had walked in to the foyer area of the building and could hear a female adult screaming at somebody. When my wife entered the classroom, she observed the Director yelling at the young 4 year olds for being disruptive and too loud. Which should have been not too surprising since they had just had snack time consisting of a brownie and oatmeal cookie! I'm not sure why the teacher herself was unable to handle the children to the point of needing the director to intervene, and I KNOW there are several ways to calm down kids that are much more effective. These adults are modeling the behavior my child sees the majority of the day and working out conflict by yelling is NOT OK! My wife did not address the Director and we thought long and hard before taking our child out of the school. When she did, we never even got a "Good Luck" or sorry to see _____go! The director never even returned the email my wife sent stating we were unenrolling our daughter and would avoid her when she came to the school. At that point, we knew we had made the right decision.
I grew up in a one parent family with a lot of yelling. That is how we communicated. Now as an adult, I do not approve of that type of discipline and would never treat my children in that manner. It really is a good thing I did not pick up my child that day.
It took only about two days and our child was back to normal. Since then people have heard we took our child out of Fort Courage and they have offered similar stories. Bad Grade for Fort Courage, if there was a zero rating I would have given that negative star.
We are trying to locate who the owners are. We have learned they should look into the Directors past history in childcare.
