We currently have had our daughter there, and she has been there for most of a year (newborn to toddler) and we have had no regrets. She is caring and compassionate (while a bit on the grandmotherly side). Older house but we have not had any issues with her, her husband, other children in her care, or parents of those children. Affordable while still offering in-home care with a smaller group of kids. Flexible with us through our career changes. Upfront with her care and instructions, and has given plenty of lead time for closures or planned trips. She has even been able to watch our 2 elem. aged kids if she has openings from time to time.

In our interview she spoke of families that she has had to ask to leave and it seems she only had the other children's concerns in mind. In my opinion, that is her prerogative when she is worried about the health of kids in her care. She also said that if our child was hurting others, we'd be asked to leave. Seemed fair to me. She also has altered her policy (Jan 2018) to take children 18 months and up (no newborns or smaller toddlers) but confirm with her directly.

From my experience, Miriam's daycare is wonderful! She offers a loving, nurturing, calm and safe environment. In my opinion, if your child causes harm to another child at least 2 times, they should be removed from the daycare. I would rather my child not be in a situation where they could be bit,etc. Plus, monitoring that child all the time to make sure they don't do anything is taking away from caring for the other children. It's not just a safety issue, but a liability issue for any business.
For me and my child, I like that Miriam is more mature in age. Very grandmother-like. I also like the idea of her having smaller amounts of toys (which she rotates so it's not the same toys all the time). Miriam encourages more reading, art and imagination.
As for her house: the decor is "vintage"/out dated but it's not falling apart old. There's a difference. Most importantly the house is clean.
So,from my viewpoint,I would recommend her daycare.

Did not have a great feeling when interviewing this caregiver and her husband so we decided against moving forward after the interview. Very friendly upon meeting, but the home, the toys and the caregiver were older than we preferred.

Be warned your child will be asked to leave and you will be left looking for childcare. The house is old and toys are few. Miriam is unable to care for more than 1 child at a time, very concerning.

Make sure your child is perfect before sending them to this daycare. It is a business and they won't let you forget it. They will not tolerate any normal child behavior. My son was there from the beginning, since he was 3 months old. At 20 months old he bit a child. He is still learning how to talk and to express himself. One occurrence and they kicked him out. They just give up on them if they don't fit their mold. I would not recommend this daycare because of their unrealistic expectations.
