Shelby Thatcher

I would give her a sub star if I could. I am the father of a 6 year old child whom I was looking for. I am divorced from her mother and live in Rock Springs. My X and daughter live in Kemmerer. I share custody of my daughter with my X. My daughter who I had custody of for the weekend showed signs of a urinary tract infection, which she is prone to, but I wasn't sure. I contacted my x and let her know. I was unsuccessful trying to contact my daughter the next day but was able to contact my X at work. She refused to tell me where my daughter was or let me talk to her. this is a clear violation of our court ordered parenting plan. Very worried about my daughters whereabouts I started calling daycare's. Shelby Thatchers was the only daycare that did not answer. I left a message explaining what my concern was and chided her mildly for not being available to answer her phone being that my daughter could likely be there and that she is a daycare. I would like to belive that I am not alone in thinking that a daycare provider should be available at all times of the day or at least would respond to a plea for a call back in a timely fashion. What if a parent had an emergency? I did not get a response to my message so a couple hours later, after calling the Kemmerer police dept, I called again at which time I did get a hold of Ms. Thatcher. She informed me that she used to take care of my daughter but didn't any more. I told her that it was unprofessional to not return my call after all, this is important and she was my child's care giver in the past. I thanked her for her time and hung up. I received a call back immediately from Ms. Thatcher informing me that I was rude and that she was too busy to return my call. Also that she did not answer numbers that she didn't recognize as not her kids parents. Well I was one of her kids parents. I asked what if it was the hospital or another emergency response number trying to get hold of her. I explained that I did not think that type of attitude was very professional. My x will probably, in the future, use Ms. Thatcher as daycare again regardless of my reservations about her ability to operate professionally. I will, if that is the case, monitor my child's time with Ms. Thatcher very carefully. Needless awkwardness if you ask me. Hopefully in the future M. Thatcher will be more respectful of a fathers concern for the whereabouts of his daughter. Especially when she was tasked with the responsibility of looking after her health and welfare once.
