I can honestly say that they try. The owner is amazing and willing to work with me and acknowledge my situation when I was struggling. That being said she is rarely available except via email. The staffing is HORRIBLE. Almost every room is violating ratio regulations. It's not uncommon for there to be 8 kids and 1 staff in the 2's room before 9am. Their answer to this is "oh the other staff probably just ran to get something in a different room". Staffing is so bad a teacher's child was diagnosed with pink eye and allowed to stay because they didn't have enough staff to send her home with her kid. Staff is the main issue. The lack of staff. The lack if consistency in staff. The maturity of the staff (and assistant director). If that could be improved then the few good teachers that are there wouldn't get burnt out so fast.
I searched everywhere for a daycare on the Southside of des moines. I found little sprouts and checked it out as I did all of the daycares. I really liked this one. My son started here when he was 18 months old. He is now almost 8yrs old. He loves this center and so do I. Every staff member I have met had been very nice. As we walk down the halls to leave they always call my son by his name and tell us to have a good evening. I get reviews on my son and he learned so much in the preschool program. As he went into school he was definitely ready and above in all subjects. This is a great daycare! ! And I'm so excited to bring my daughter there soon! !
While I think the owner and staff are nice, I think they tell you what you want to hear. On the tour of the facility when I first enrolled my child, they told me that their children excel more than others when they go on to school. Yet, they have no documentation of this. I did not feel my child received any special education to advance their education. It's a false and silly claim for them to make. I also believe there is an issue with how they fail to discipline children and their methods for curtailing bad behavior are very ineffective.

About the Provider
Little Sprouts Children's Center is a licensed daycare center on Des Moines Southside. It has a maximum capacity of 140 children. It is a clean and spacious center tucked away on 2 acres behind the Hy-Vee on Fleur Drive. Little Sprouts has huge rooms, well trained staff, and has recently undergone some major improvements and new ownership. They offer childcare for infants as young as 6weeks old. They have a brand new infant room and a new One-year old room. Little Sprouts also offers a school age program for school age children, a summer camp and transportation to and from local schools. They have a wonderful preschool program everyday from 9-11 for the 4/5 year old children that are not quite ready for school yet.
