Children's Development Center of Assonet

Let me start by saying I read the previous comments and I can't disagree with them more. I guess we all have our own interpretations and see things in different a light, especially when it comes to our children. Even the smallest of events can be transformed through word to sound horrific, this is the beauty of writing and imagination.
My experience so far has been incredible. As a whole the school is as I would expect, clean, comfortable and safe. I say incredible because my 10 month baby girl who has been going since she was 8 weeks loves being there. Her teachers have been great with her, I really feel that she is getting the same care that she would get from her mother or I. I was skeptical at first who wouldn't be with all the crazy's running around the world today, but my wife talked me in to bringing the baby there and now I plan on enrolling our next child as well.
So if your looking for a daycare or even more if your looking for a second home for your child to be at when they aren't with you. I recommend CDC Assonet. In fact I have and some of my friends have enrolled their children.

The entire staff at CDC is amazing. My daughter is more than ready for kindergarten, thanks to the education she has received during her time there. My little one is in the infant room will surely gain so much while she is there after seeing what my older one has learned. Thanks again for everything.

To Whom it May Concern Hello, our recently experience at CDC's Assonet location was nothing like we expected. In our pre enrollment meeting we were given a sales pitch that was not even closely followed up by actions within the business. After the pre enrollment meeting us as parents felt well about the hands we were soon to be leaving our 7 ½ week old baby girl in. After the first couple of days of care, I began to notice things that were not acceptable care in my opinion. From day one the owner, director and I had discussed breast milk storage and preparation because this is what my child was going to be bringing. The day I picked up my daughter only to find a highlighted book of how to take care of breast milk, is the day I was actively looking for another childcare provider. I wasn't offended by this, but really made me second guess my decision in enrolling her in this center. If the owner of the facility is going to undermined the parents, then what are they going to do to my child. I was very hurt that this was the way this business went about things. When there was concern about my daughters care I spoke with the owner, and I never saw any changes. The day I showed up about a ½ hour early to only find my child on the concrete floor with no blanket on the dirty throw rug. She was 3 ½ months at this time; babies put everything in their mouth and roll around disgracefully, and on a dirty floor of all things really upset me, and I looked at it as neglect. The owner of the facility was in the room with her during this time. This day was when I set up interviews for other childcare arrangements. If I could have taken her out that day and never bring her back I would have. It killed me that I had to drop her off that everyday and not know what was going on. Another incident was when I picked her up out of her crib and I saw that she had spit up in a few spots in there and notified staff, three weeks later I picked her up out of her crib and the spit up was still there. That is filth. From then on I brought my own sheets. During our time there I was never happy with the care my daughter received, seemed like everyday there was another issue. Since leaving the daycare my daughter's yeast infection under her neck has healed, while at CDC her bib was not changed frequently, therefore the spit up and drool was constantly on her neck and was never dry. This issue was also addressed multiple times. It is not fair to a child to have a yeast infection for weeks because caregivers neglect to change a wet bib. Thinking about all the issues we had at CDC, I am disgusted and mad at myself for ever leaving my daughter there. I am not writing this to bad mouth a business, but to make other parents aware of the care or lack there of that their child will be getting. Thank You. A Concerned Mother Anonymous

Pros: The building is new and clean. The director is very professional and always willing to answer your questions.
Cons: Very disorganized, always losing the children's personal belongings. My child never comes home with what we bring there (cups, forks, blankets, etc), even when items are clearly marked. I've caught them not following sanitation standards, such as handwashing between diaper changes and not sanitizing changing pads between changes either. The staff in general consists of lazy 19 year olds. In the morning during drop off my child will be freaking out and most of the teachers will sit on their behinds and do nothing but eat while I struggle to make it to work on time. They don't even always greet you.  I've also witnessed a staff member being huffy over an infant spitting up. HELLO that is not the infant's fault! The age range of children grouped together until 8:30 am is far too wide: infant through before school attendees (e.g. 10 year olds) are in the same room.
