Upper management needs to take a very close look at the way the facility is run and make major changes. My family(and 3 others)experienced racial bias on behalf of the teaching and administrative staff. This was not our experience, however, until our children reached the 4 and 5 year old classrooms. In this age range, teachers had a palable preference for students that were non-African American, taking more time to academically coach, emotionally nuture and build relationships with the children and their families, while openly neglecting others. This was seen in the way African American and Hispanic children (particularly boys) were punished more severly and most often, isolated from the group and deemed "trouble makers." To add insult to injury, 3 of the 4 teachers in both classrooms were often dismissive (even hostile) when questioned by a parent - and opportunities to have lunch with a child or conduct a classroom visit to better understand the dynamics were systematically denied (a red flag). This behavior is deplorable, and counter-productive to the parental involvment efforts within the school system. And though this behavior was brought to management's attention for 2 consectutive years, by more than 3 families, the teachers remained unscathed, untrained and completely unaccountable. If you are looking for a facility that truly cares for and want to contribute to your child's acamedic and emotional development, look elsewhere!
