Description: Josephine is an Intergenerational Care Community providing post-hospital nursing and therapy rehabilitation, loving skilled nursing care, attentive and homelike assisted living, childcare services, Montessori preschool & kindergarten, ECEAP kindergarten, pastoral care, and in-home care team ministries. Josephine's child care center provides an innovative approach to child care in a unique setting. The center benefits children, their family and elders through mutual interactions and continuing relationships. Our staff cares for infants and toddlers in the “Little House,†a separate on-campus building. Parents can enroll infants starting at six weeks of age. In addition to the Montessori preschool described in a separate link to the left, Josephine offers four distinct preschool programs based on the child's developmental readiness. Classes are held in recently remodeled settings located throughout the facility, and regular interaction between residents and the children is encouraged. These intergenerational interactions benefit residents and children. his program meets the needs of parents whose work schedule does not coincide with school hours. Transportation from Josephine to and from Cedarhome, Twin City , or Stanwood Elementary is provided by Josephine staff members. Care during winter and spring breaks (corresponding with the Stanwood school district schedule) is also available. During the summer, Josephine offers all-day camps with weekly field trips and other learning and recreational opportunities.

I was lucky enough to be among the first CHILDREN enrolled at JSH daycare - I started at 5 and was there by choice until I was 13 - and now that I'm getting ready to have my own little one, I wouldn't look anywhere else!
Several of the staff in the daycare center now are the original staff I grew up with so I know my baby will be in good hands. The interaction between the nursing home residents and the daycare children is constant and priceless - and created some of my most vivid memories from my childhood. Not only did it give me an opportunity to learn how to build relationships with and form a deep respect for the elderly, but as a result of the varying needs of any set of nursing home residents, created an understanding of differences and disabilities among a population.
Through this program, I was blessed to not only have by biological grandparets, but to have 100s of adopted grandparents as well.
