Elementary Teacher

Absolutely horrible customer service, professionalism, and for people that are in the business of caring for children and interacting with working parents: appalling! After having my 2-year-old daughter enrolled at this facility for nine days, I had the misfortune of being held up at work because of the rain (this was about two and a half weeks ago when it poured around 3:30 to 4:30 in the area). I'm an elementary school teacher, who is not allowed to leave until all students are boarded on the bus.  To make matters worse, the parent car rider lines were blocking me in and I couldn't get out.  I finally made it out and was heading to pick up my daughters. I had made arrangements to have my oldest daughter brought there.  Their dad needed to pick them up early to go on a trip so I was already running behind. I was in the midst of making the necessary phone calls when I get a phone call from the daycare to ask me about my oldest daughter, who I had just instructed to go inside and out of the rain as I was just around the corner from the daycare and was about to pick them up. When I arrived, the owner questioned me about my motives of leaving my daughter "abandoned" at their facility, and that I had basically put them in danger of losing their license.  My 11-year-old daughter was there a little over FIVE minutes. As someone that works with children and parents, from all walks of life, I was astonished at the tone, extremity, manner in which this person was addressing me. As soon as I stepped foot in the door and if full view of other parents she was talking to me in a condescending way, as if I was an irresponsible deadbeat parent. Despite of her behavior I apologized for putting them in that position and explained what had happened at my school and how this sort of arrangement rarely happens (since the girls usually don't go out of town regularly).  I did let her know that I did not appreciate her tone and the accusatory words she was using. She then proceeded to tell me that what else was she to think since I paid my tuition late. Remember this was my second week with them (she was referring to the current week that I missed their tuition deadline because they collect the week prior as opposed to Mondays like my previous daycare. She didn't remember, however, that I had paid the current week and the upcoming week EARLY so that I would not miss it). This of course was still in front of other people in the day care picking up their children. I left right after that comment.  Over the weekend, I struggled with the decision of staying or leaving.  I thought about my little one, who had just made the change, getting used to new teacher and friends and having to adjust.  I also thought about my oldest daughter who I have to drop off now that she's in middle school, so I decided to stay, but not without having a meeting with the owners.  On Monday, I asked to speak with one of the two owners that I had dealt with that previous Friday.  Neither was there, so I talked to the third.  AGAIN, I apologized for unintentionally putting them in that situation and that all I was asking for from that day forward was that they approach me in a different manner, that they apologize for the way in which they spoke to me, and that if they needed to contact my previous daycare to find out my timeliness and financial history with them I would be happy to provide that to them.  So, this bring me back to the next day, when I get the message on my phone telling me I needed to get my child out of their daycare at the end of the week.  Naturally, I did not feel that it was best to keep my baby the rest of the week and informed the owner that I would immediately pick her up and that it would be my last day. I requested that they refund the remaining portion of the tuition I paid early, and the annual registration fee.  She said, "We'll see, I don't have control of that".  I have yet to receive my money.
